Description
The Allen-Whitney Memorial Forest is a 735 acre property owned and managed by the New England Forestry Foundation. Like the majority of NEFF properties non-motorized trail recreation is welcomed.
The trails here are well maintained and mostly flat making it a perfect place to introduce newer riders to the sport. There are about 8 miles of trails in Allen-Whitney though at the Southwest corner of the property there's a 2.5 mile side trail leading through the Gannett Woods and Wyman Memorial Forest. This is an out-and-back that leads to route 27 initially running along the southern and western portions of Shed Pond.
Riding Allen-Whitney exposes you to forestry practices at their best. You'll see stands of many different varieties of trees in all stages of their growth cycles.
