Who Are We
Penobscot Region NEMBA is a dedicated chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association, committed to building a thriving mountain biking community and whose mission is to promote more mountain biking opportunities in the greater Bangor area. Our members are riders of all levels who share a passion for adventure, trails, protecting outdoor spaces, and giving back to the trails we love.
What We Do
We build, maintain, and enhance sustainable trails, ensuring they remain accessible and enjoyable for all by working with local landowners and municipal trail system stewards. Our chapter organizes exciting community events and group rides including our annual Spring Social in May, Sufferfest (and Suffer-less) in July and Season Ender S'ender in October. We provide resources for education, safety, and advocacy to foster responsible riding and trails stewardship.
Where We Operate
Located in the Penobscot Region of Maine, we work on trails across the region, including networks in the University Forest, Bangor Hill in the Caribou Bog Conservation Area, Bangor City Forest, Essex Woods, Swan's Recreational Trail System at Perch Pond and Dedham/Kiski Trails. PRNEMBA members and volunteers also groom Winter riding at Swan's, Orono High School and the Bangor City Forest. Our efforts extend to collaborating with local landowners, towns, and preservation groups to promote responsible outdoor recreation throughout the community.
