Big news out of Cheshire: Central CT NEMBA has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Town of Cheshire for the Yankee Highlands property. It’s been a long time coming, and we’re excited to finally share what this means for the chapter and for riders across central Connecticut.

The MOU gives the project a solid, formal foundation, backed by $50,000 in town support. That kind of commitment from the local government means a lot, and it sets us up well for everything ahead.

A three-phase plan

The Yankee Highlands project rolls out in three phases, designed to grow the trail system in a sustainable, community-minded way.

Phase 1 - Getting underway

Phase 1 starts now. The team is on the ground laying the foundation for what’s to come, updates on the way soon.

Phase 2 - Expansion & development

Building on Phase 1 with expanded trails and features that serve riders of all skill levels across the region.

Phase 3 - Long-term stewardship

Establishing Yankee Highlands as a destination that Central CT NEMBA maintains and grows for the community for years to come. We can’t wait to see it come to life. Stay tuned for updates as Phase 1 gets underway, the best is still ahead.
