The PMC South Shore Kids Ride, for ages 3-18, is on Sunday, June 11 at DCR Wompatuck State Park. Approximately 400 children, ages 3 to 18, are expected to ride one of 5 different routes based on various biking abilities, including a parking lot with obstacles and inflatable tunnel for tykes, 1-mile and 4-mile loops on paved routes, and 3-mile and 6-mile mountain bike routes led by volunteers from the Southeast Mass Chapter of NEMBA.
Volunteers are needed to make the ride safe and enjoyable for everyone at this major event, which raises funds for the life-saving research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Assistance is needed for registration, helping to manage route safety, facilitating the festivities prior to and after the ride, and more. In addition, students can offer much-needed help while fulfilling requirements for community service.
The PMC South Shore Kids Ride starts at 9:00 a.m., check-in opens at 7:30 a.m., and opening ceremonies are at 8:30 a.m. Registration for riders is $15.00 by June 9 --$30.00 after--and there is a fundraising minimum of $25. One hundred per cent of donations go to the Jimmy Fund at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
