NW CT NEMBA - Trumbull Ride

Event Date

9/16/17 10:00am

NW CT NEMBA is taking a field trip to Trumbull (Indian Ledge Park), Saturday, 9/16.
Intermediate/Advanced ride due to the terrain - a lot of rocks and features to play on (rollers, drops, etc.) - not the speed.
Expect to be out anywhere from 2-3 hours, depending on group size and time spent on various features.
Protective gear (elbow pads, knee pads) recommended for those who have never ridden Trumbull (lots of rocks that can sneak up on you when you're not familiar with the lines...not to comfy if you eat it...).

We will be meeting in the commuter parking lot on Park Street (Route 25 and Daniels Farm Road, Exit 9 off of Route 25). Here are the GPS coordinates: 41.25236277 -73.20073556.

All other NEMBA groups (if you are a member of our FB page, too, and see this) are welcome - especially the Fairfield County Folks - would love to have you!

Orchard Hill Observatory is located at the top of Orchard Hill. You can get there by either going to the Sylvan dorms following the treeline on the East side of the hill up to the telescope or by going to the Orchard Hill Dorms and following the gravel road (turn left when you get to the road (if you go right it will take you across the bottom of the hill). The local cellular phone company has been kind enough to install a huge communication tower adjacent to the telescope. If you make your way to the base of the tower you will find the telescope. NW CT NEMBA Weekly Intermediate Ride

Event Date

Repeats every week every Thursday until Thu Sep 07 2017 .
6/1/17 5:30pm
Scott and Brian will be leading intermediate rides on Thursday nights starting June 1st. Ride length and intensity will vary depending on who shows up that week. Rides may also be split into 2 or more groups to accommodate different levels of ability and/or interest. Rides are somewhat technical and are typically 8-10 miles depending on the group and the amount of daylight. We try to be back to the parking lot before dark, but if you have lights it would be a good idea to bring them just in case. Plan to arrive by 5:30pm, the aim is to get rolling by 5:45pm. Please let us know if you plan on making it to the ride, so the group can start as soon as everyone gets there.

As uaual we'll be alternating ride locations between the Nassahegon Soccer Fields and the Sessions Woods WMA areas.  As we did last year; we'll be throwing in some other locations to the mix as well.  Keep an eye on FB, our website, and/or our mailing list for details on different locations including Harwinton, Nepaug, Burr Pond, and who knows where else. The first week we'll be starting at the Soccer Fields, and will be switching every week from there unless announced otherwise.

If you're unfamiliar with the parking location you can use the following addresses in your GPS:
Soccer Fields: 273 Punch Brook Rd Burlington CT 06013
Sessions Woods WMA: 341 Milford Street (Rte 69) Burlington, CT 06013
