Bridge Build

Date

10/7/17 9:00am to 2:00pm

Local MTBer, NEMBA member, and Eagle Scout Jonathan Hills will be building a bridge for his Eagle Scout Service Project.

He'll be organizing a build of a 100' span of the long wet stretch on the "Snowshoe Trail" in West Keene. This trail is below the rail trail and is a nice climbing trail from down low, and a good winter fat bike connector over to Skittles and up to Rail Trail. Even in the winter there has been a moisture problem here. This should make it a great year round trail, avoid downhill traffic on Rocket Pop, and help get us off the two track climb even more.

Rain date is Sunday the 8th.

We need to know if you are coming so Jonathan can arrange pizza and water.

Bring muscles, water/snacks, gloves, cordless drills if you have them. A rock bar, shovel, and Rogue Hoe or two could come in handy.

We will meet at Peter Poanessa's (36 Dickinson Rd Keene, NH) at 9am.

We'll update details as they come in. Hope to see you, many hands make light/less work. Read more about Bridge Build

Brattleboro Wednesday Night Ride - Grand Reopening!

Date

8/16/17 5:15pm to 9:00pm

Join us August 16th in Brattleboro for an epic Wednesday Night Ride.  Kind of a Grand Reopening!  Meet at the parking area for the hockey rink at the Living Memorial Park.

The crew in Brattleboro have been working hard adding new trail, cleaning up and buffing out the other stuff, and getting trails signed/marked and putting a map together.  And they aren’t done.  In fact, they are just getting started.

So on the 16th they’d like to have a bigger WNR and showcase what they have been up to.

There will be 2 ride groups. An inter-mellow (casual/social/intermediate pace) that will hit the berm trail, the new climbing trail, and the town trails.  You’ll probably hit them 2x (they are that good).  There will also be a faster ride that goes out to Pete's trails and back with everything in between. Tires roll for fast group @ 5:30.  People should try to arrive by 5:15 so the guys can give a brief intro to the land use arrangement that they have worked out.

You’ll want to stick around, West Hill will be providing après ride snacks and will set up a tent in the parking lot.  There will be printed maps to help get yourselves oriented as well.

If 5:15 is too early, you should still try to come out, if for no other reason than to hang out after and socialize.  But you can probably still get a good ride in and likely run into the crew out there.

Things are really starting to get going in Brattleboro again, so come out and show some support and learn how you can help.  There is a lot of potential for new trails in the area, group rides are going off consistently, shops are getting more involved…  Come learn more.

And if you have lights, bring them.  You probably won’t need them, but it is that time of year when darkness sneaks up on you!

Annual Spring Kickoff Party!

Some details:
Free for chapter members, we'll ask for a $5 donation from non-members to offset pizza costs and other expenses.

Rides will start at 10AM. Things will be flagged such that routes will be unambiguous - even better than last year. Can't make 10AM? No worries, just follow the trail markings.

There is a pump track and skills area. Todd's son will lead some kids rides as well. So bring the family.

Pizza will be provided by Little Zoe's Take & Bake Pizza again this year. Assorted kinds: cheese, veggie, meat, and gluten-free. We'll get salads as well.

BYOB

We've got some vendors lined up all already and are working on some more:
365 Cycles, Gravel Tours, Sunset Ranch Roses (of BMX fame!), Sinuosity: Flowing Trails (Brooke will be bringing some if the Fat Bike Skis to show as well), Dave from West Hill will be there as well. Some other shops and industry related businesses will be there as well representing. We'll share more later as we get confirmations.

As we get closer I'll be soliciting volunteers to help out with set-up/clean-up, parking, and other tasks. I'll also be trying to get some better attendance #s so we can plan pizza accordingly. Read more about BK-NEMBA Spring Picnic

BK NEMBA's 2nd Annual Monadnock MTB Festival & Movie

Date

2/4/17 (All day)

Join Brattleboro-Keene NEMBA for our 2nd Annual Monadnock MTB Festival & Movie on Saturday, February 4th.

The doors will open 6:30PM at Stonewall Farm for the 7PM showing of First Tracks Production’s Off the Beaten Path.   And just maybe we’ll have some awesome giveaways before the show…  Ride is dependent on conditions.

Ticket sales are live at:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2nd-annual-monadnock-mtb-festival-movie-tickets-31024641538

But first, come out to Fat Tired Mike’s at noon for fat bike rides on private, groomed bike trails with an après ride bon-fire.  Fat Tired Mike’s is located 4 miles east of downtown Keene at 17 Route 101, Marlborough, NH.  We’ll ride at 12:30PM.

Fat curious? Or maybe you want to introduce a friend to fat biking, or you are ready to upgrade from that old Pugsley. We got you covered. 365 Cycles will be at Fat Tired Mike's with their Fatboy Fleet! Full size run this year Small, Med, Lrg, XL!

After an afternoon of riding and socializing at Mike’s we’ll head to Margaritas Mexican Restaurant on Main St in downtown Keene to get some food and continue the socialization.  We’ve reserved the back room so we’ll have space and servers to help quench our thirst and fill us up.

Produced by FirstTracksProductions.com, "Off the Beaten Path" is an adventure cycling film celebrating the journeys bikes allow us to take - specifically focusing on how fatter tire bikes are allowing riders to venture to places cyclists have never been able to ride before.  Run time is 66 minutes.  We’ll have some complimentary light refreshments available at the movie.

Tickets are available via EventBrite soon for $10 plus processing fees.  We have a max capacity to 200 attendees for the movie, so be sure to buy your ticket in advance.  Availability at the door may be limited or not available.
