Description

Wasserman Park is one of Merrimack's best known recreation areas. It has a dog park, a playground , tennis courts, playing fields and miles of trails. Wasserman's 46 acres directly abut the town's 87 acre Wasserman Conservation Area. But most poeple refer to both as Wasserman Park. Wasserman also has a sandy beach, though it's only open to Merrimack residents.

Wasserman has many miles of well maintained trails. One, the Quarry Trail, leads to the nearby Horse Hill Nature Preserve. A 563 acre property that itself hosts about 15 miles of trails. Attempting to do both in one day would be a heroic undetaking. The Gilmore Hill Memorial Forest can also be reached from Wasserman.

Wasserman's trails, especially the singletracks are tight, interesting and fun. Quite a bit of trail work has gone into them and this will be obvious as you explore them.

The best place to park is at the Dog Park parking lot. From there head back towards the Park's entry road, cross it by the Park & Recreation Office, and at the end of the Resident's Parking Lot look for a trail going into the woods. (See the map above on the right.)

You'll enjoy Wasserman Park. The trails will bring you back again and again. Oh! And almost every one of them are just as much fun to ride in both direction. Read more about Wasserman Park

Bridge Build

Date

10/7/17 9:00am to 2:00pm

Local MTBer, NEMBA member, and Eagle Scout Jonathan Hills will be building a bridge for his Eagle Scout Service Project.

He'll be organizing a build of a 100' span of the long wet stretch on the "Snowshoe Trail" in West Keene. This trail is below the rail trail and is a nice climbing trail from down low, and a good winter fat bike connector over to Skittles and up to Rail Trail. Even in the winter there has been a moisture problem here. This should make it a great year round trail, avoid downhill traffic on Rocket Pop, and help get us off the two track climb even more.

Rain date is Sunday the 8th.

We need to know if you are coming so Jonathan can arrange pizza and water.

Bring muscles, water/snacks, gloves, cordless drills if you have them. A rock bar, shovel, and Rogue Hoe or two could come in handy.

We will meet at Peter Poanessa's (36 Dickinson Rd Keene, NH) at 9am.

We'll update details as they come in. Hope to see you, many hands make light/less work. Read more about Bridge Build

Brattleboro Wednesday Night Ride - Grand Reopening!

Date

8/16/17 5:15pm to 9:00pm

Join us August 16th in Brattleboro for an epic Wednesday Night Ride.  Kind of a Grand Reopening!  Meet at the parking area for the hockey rink at the Living Memorial Park.

The crew in Brattleboro have been working hard adding new trail, cleaning up and buffing out the other stuff, and getting trails signed/marked and putting a map together.  And they aren’t done.  In fact, they are just getting started.

So on the 16th they’d like to have a bigger WNR and showcase what they have been up to.

There will be 2 ride groups. An inter-mellow (casual/social/intermediate pace) that will hit the berm trail, the new climbing trail, and the town trails.  You’ll probably hit them 2x (they are that good).  There will also be a faster ride that goes out to Pete's trails and back with everything in between. Tires roll for fast group @ 5:30.  People should try to arrive by 5:15 so the guys can give a brief intro to the land use arrangement that they have worked out.

You’ll want to stick around, West Hill will be providing après ride snacks and will set up a tent in the parking lot.  There will be printed maps to help get yourselves oriented as well.

If 5:15 is too early, you should still try to come out, if for no other reason than to hang out after and socialize.  But you can probably still get a good ride in and likely run into the crew out there.

Things are really starting to get going in Brattleboro again, so come out and show some support and learn how you can help.  There is a lot of potential for new trails in the area, group rides are going off consistently, shops are getting more involved…  Come learn more.

And if you have lights, bring them.  You probably won’t need them, but it is that time of year when darkness sneaks up on you!

SNH NEMBA Coed Strong Novice Ride

Event Date

Repeats every week every Thursday until Thu Oct 25 2018 .
5/24/18 (All day)

For those that have mastered our Tuesday Night Novice Ride and are wanting a bit more challenge, I'd like to introduce you to our Coed Strong Novice Ride. This ride is not for beginners as we'll be riding more difficult terrain, just at a slower pace than an intermediate group would. You should feel comfortable riding singletrack and more elevation than is found at Mine Falls.

Depending on the size of the group, abilities and the number of ride leaders on any given week we will split up into the appropriate groups to make this as fun as possible for all.

Please note: This ride's primary purpose is to meet the needs of the novice riders that are looking to develop their skills. In the event that we have only one ride leader on any given week, the ride will be tailored to meet the needs of the normal "B" group riders.

Location will vary so contact me for this week's ride location or check our Facebook Page for a weekly Update.

Final Strong Novice Ride of this season will take place on Wednesday 10/25/2018 (weather permitting). Read more about SNH NEMBA Coed Strong Novice Ride
