Northeast MA

NSNEMBA Trail Day at Tompson St.

Date

6/7/14 8:30am to 12:00pm

Saturday June 7  8:30 AM – Noon

Location: Meet at new Greenbelt trailhead on Concord St. immediately north of Route 128. Parking in dirt lot on west side of Concord St:  See map: http://goo.gl/maps/Fw1et

Project: Greenbelt recently protected a piece of land providing an excellent trailhead for Tompson St. Reservation, in a prominent location close to the highway. A lengthy boardwalk to be built later is needed to connect this location with the extensive trail system in the northern portion of the property.

We will be doing treadwork on existing trails and establishing the primary route to the boardwalk location, a short bog bridge, and a cleanup of both the trailhead and some dumping locations.

Bring work gloves, sturdy footwear, and water/snacks. Tools will be supplied but feel free to bring yours (pick, shovel, leaf rake most useful).

Lunch will be provided. A ride and a walk may take place in the afternoon, weather and ground conditions permitting.

Project will go on in light/moderate rain, but heavy rain may result in rescheduling.

GBNEMBA Kids Rides

Let's Get Kids on Bikes!

GBNEMBA presents the 2017 Kids MTB Ride Series.

Mountain Biking is a GREAT way for kids and teens to build strong bodies, build confidence, have a ton of fun and enjoy being outside!

The Kids Rides are designed for children ages 6-15 who can ride without training wheels. Based on the skill levels of the participants, we typically break into two groups: one for kids who have more experience with riding, and a second group for beginners.  All we ask is no training wheels.

No registration is required.  If you have any questions about the Kids Rides please contact Andrea Jones.

NEMBA KIDS RIDE SERIES 2017 SCHEDULE

  • May 6 - Kona GBNEMBA Ride at Middlesex Fells, Medford
  • June 10 - LandLocked Forest (Burlington), Parking at Estabrook Elementary School, Lexington

  • Oct 7 - National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day, Middlesex Fells, Medford
  • Nov 26 - Toys for Tots Ride, Middlesex Fells, Stoneham

These rides allow children and teens to have fun while enjoying the outdoors and getting some fitness. In addition to learning some biking skills, we teach respect for the parks, trails, and other trail users. The ride will be well staffed and every safety precaution will be observed. Parents are welcome on the ride but not required. Riders must have a serviceable bike, properly fitted helmet, and water for the ride. All riders must wear closed-toed shoes - no flip flops or sandals. Snacks will be provided! Read more about GBNEMBA Kids Rides

GB & MV NEMBA Monday Night Practice Your Technique Ride

Event Date

Repeats every week every Monday until Mon Aug 28 2017 .
5/1/17 5:45pm

Join us on Mondays for a Practice Your Technique (PYT) ride at the Burlington Landlocked Forest.

Free post-ride pizza courtesy of JRA Cycles.

Following a successful pilot in 2013, the weekly GBNEMBA PYT ride (formerly at the Fells on Wednesdays) is now at Landlocked Forest on Monday nights in collaboration with the Merrimack Valley chapter (MVNEMBA). the Landlocked Forest is a great location for PYT'ing. And, thanks to the very kind sponsorship of JRA Cycles, we will be having pizza delivered for immediate post-ride consumption!

Format: PYT = Practice Your Technique. The format is all about building MTB skills: bike handling, body position, sessioning on trail features, braking, climbing, shifting, etc. Russell Mill has a pump track which will be utilized as well. The ride will be led by GB and MV Ride Guides, is no-drop and could best be thought of as "ride, practice a skill, ride some more, practice a skill, etc." More info here

The PYT rides have something for all riders of all abilities and levels. Come out and learn something new or get better at something you are rusty on - and maybe meet some fellow riders to ride with in the future. This is a great way to take your skills up a notch!

What to bring:
1. Mountain bike
2. Helmet (required)
3. Water
4. You!

Park at the Joseph Estabrook Elementary school: 117 Grove Street Lexington, MA 02420

Ride meeting time is 5:45PM.  Please be ready to ride by 6:00PM. Read more about GB & MV NEMBA Monday Night Practice Your Technique Ride
