Description

The Rockland Preserve is a town owned property where, including Pisgah, 20 miles of trails have been created, solely by volunteers. The trails are for non-motorized use and are excellent for mountain biking, walking, running and dog walking.

The best description of these trails can be found on the Madison website. This Trail Map is from that website as well.

There are three parking areas.
1)  2333 Durham Road, Madison CT, 06443
2)  99 Renees Way, Madison CT, 06443, the best place to access the easiest trails.
3)  Dead Hill Road, Durham CT, 06422
These are all imbeded in this map

You'll enjoy riding these trails. No, actually you'll probably rave about these trails.

IF you haven't heard we are building a skills park and pump track at Rockland in Madison. This is a unique opportunity to build something great but we could use some help in the way of pressure treated lumber donations. Nothing Painted, nothing old, must be new or in great shape.

Late Breaking News

Wanted: Brand New pieces of pressure treated wood. Longer the better, but 24" minimum. 2x4 2x6 2x8 2x10 2x12 4x4 4x6 6x6 stuff like that. Tell me what you have and we can try and link up or leave it somewhere like behind the Kiosk at the 79 lot. Not trying to build the whole skills park with scraps, but figure, people always have stuff laying around from projects and its a good way to recycle. We now have Official Approval for the pump track skills park, but we can start the skills park pretty soon. Huge thanks to the town for getting on board with my vision. There is nothing like this anywhere in the state. Cant wait to build some fun lines just 100 ft from the parking lot.

Thanks!!

NW CT NEMBA Weekly Thursday Ride - Burr Pond

Event Date

7/21/16 5:30pm

That's right, we're switching things up again this week. 2 weeks ago we hit up the fine trails in Harwinton, now we've lined up some tour guides for Burr Pond in Torrington!

We'll have two groups - one which is likely to hit all the rocky goodness they can find, and the other will take a toned down approach. For those who haven't been , this will be a good chance to try out some different riding from Burington. Not sure what the mileage will be, but it will be fun!

We'll meet at the Burr Pond boat launch parking area (699 Burr Mountain Road, Torrington) between 5:30-5:45. We will be rolling by 6 at the latest. As always this is an intermediate level no drop ride, so come on out and have some fun!

NW CT NEMBA Weekly Thursday Ride - Harwinton

Event Date

7/7/16 5:30pm
We're switching things up a bit for this ride and moving things to Harwinton. For those who don't know: The Town of Harwinton has been working with NW CT NEMBA over the last couple of years to establish mountain bike trails on their properties. A lot of work has been done and we're going to check it out!

Our plan right now is to have one group do about 10 miles at a moderate pace, though we could split into 2 groups if needed. The goal is to show off the trails and terrain in the area. It will be a nice change of pace from the riding in Burlington that normally do for our group rides.

Meet at 5:30 at the Harwinton Town Hall at 100 Bentley Drive.

Event Date

7/4/16 8:00am

Join Dennis and Margie for another of our no-drop Monday social rides. This time we'll get in a nice cool morning ride!

Geared toward newer riders but we always split up into two groups and have a faster and longer ride, too.

Depending on the group you go with you could be riding a mellow 4-6+ miles or a faster 8-10+ miles with more climbing and technical features.

Meet at the Nassahegan soccer fields at 8:00 a.m. with the goal of rolling out by 8:15.
