NEMBA's Trail School South -- Saturday May 20th, 2017

Registration is now open for our one-day course in how to design, construct and maintain great singletrack. The first 30 people to register will be given a complimentary trail building textbook from IMBA, IMBA's Trail Solutions.

This course is perfect for riders, trail enthusiasts, land stewards and land managers interested in learning about what makes for sustainable, enjoyable trails and how to take care of them.

The course will include classroom presentations on the best practices of trail building and maintenance in the morning, followed by hands-on trail building clinics in the afternoon.

Coffee, snacks and lunch will be included, and there will also be an option to purchase IMBA's trailbuilding textbook, IMBA Trail Solutions.

The cost is $20.  Please bring a check for $40 if you wish to purchace IMBA's book, Trail Solutions: IMBA's Guide to Building Sweet Singletrack.

The course will take place at Rockhouse Hill Sanctuary, managed by the Oxford Land Trust, located about 45 minutes southwest of Hartford and 30 minutes northwest of New Haven.

Update: Muy Winter!  Too much snow for rides, so Millers is off.  Snowshoe adventure out of Wadsworth Falls at 10:30, with the potluck and movie on schedule for 1-4 PM at CFPA.

Join us for a day of play in the cold on Saturday, February 11, 2017.

Snowshoe adventure Led rides (weather permitting) leave at 10 AM 10:30AM from Millers Pond and Wadsworth Falls State Parks.

FC NEMBA Brewery Destination Ride

In partnership with Ridgefield Bicycle Company, this Sunday morning RBC mountain bike ride is at the West Hartford Reservoir in West Hartford CT at 10AM. It is a great ride with lots of varied terrain. About 2 hours. Intermediate level.

To carpool, we’ll meet at the gun club (Wooster Mountain Shooting Range 74 Sugar Hollow Road = Route 7 Danbury) parking lot on Route 7 on the left when heading north in Danbury just south of the Airport at 8:40.

Driving Directions are.. It is an hour and 5 minutes from Ridgefield. 84East to exit 39. Right on CT-4/Farmington Avenue. Entrance on left about 3 miles. Street address is 1420 Farmington Ave, West Hartford, CT 06107

Enter the West Hartford reservoir from Farmington Avenue Route 4, a left turn. Drive straight ahead through the entrance. Take your first left into the first parking lot and we will gather there.

Contact John Sweeney if you intend to attend so we have an approximate head count. Last minutes are just fine.

After the ride, we have the private room and a tour of the beer at the City Steam Brewery in Hartford at 942 Main St, Hartford, CT courtesy of Mick Ferraro. We’ll have lunch and sample the beer. Bring a change of dry clothes.

NW CT NEMBA Fall Trail Care Work Day #3

We'll be having our third Fall Trail Care Work Day of 2016 this Saturday, Nov. 19th.  We plan to continue the TLC on the "Miller Time" section of the white/red trail! Planned work includes rebuilding berms, removing bogeys and restoring the overall flow. Meet on Cornwall Road by the Blue Blazed Tunxis trail crossing at 10am. Bring shovels. pick axes, landscape rakes as well as water, gloves and sturdy shoes. Frosty beverages to follow the work day. Come on out and lend a hand for the last official work day of 2016.

CCT NEMBA Turkey Burner 2016

The 2016 Turkey Burner will be on Friday November 25, weather permitting. 10 AM start at the Case Pond trailhead, 68 Birch Mountain Road, Manchester.  Spillover parking is also available a short distance away at the eastern end of the Charter Oak Greenway, 691 Camp Meeting Road, Manchester.  Led rides for social intermediate through expert riders.  Riders should be at the Case Pond lot and ready to go by 10.

Central CT NEMBA Bridge Build at River Highlands

We'll be helping DEEP build a new bridge on the yellow trail. Activites will involve carrying materials to the work site and helping to build the bridge. Wear work gloves, sturdy shoes and long pants. Bring water and a snack. If there's time we might tackle some other jobs as well, like trail work or skinny builing.
