NEMBA's Trail School Weekend

May 17-18

Wendell State Forest, Wendell MA

Have you wondered what makes for an excellent trail and want to learn how to build one? Perhaps you've been to some of NEMBA's trail care events, and you'd like to hone your skills to take on larger, more complicated projects. Come to our Trail School Weekend at Wendell State Forest in Massachusetts' Pioneer Valley.

The school will focus on both basic and advanced techniques for building and caring for trails. It's a must for any volunteer interested in learning the science of trail design, trail construction and maintenance. Instruction will be led by NEMBA trail experts as well as IMBA's Director of Field Operations, Scott Linnenburger.

Topics will include: new trail alignment and construction techniques, trail assessment and rehabiliation, boardwalk construction, rock armoring trails, as well as seminars on trail maintenance, working with volunteers and trail project execution.

Not only will there be much learning to be had, but there will also be time for plenty of riding on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. This will be a fully catered event and we'll be camping at lovely Wendell State Forest.  Don't forget to bring your bike or hiking boots! There will be some great riding and hiking each day.
