The Connecticut Chapter of NEMBA will host a recreational charity ride as part of the Harpoon Mountain Bike Adventure Series at Shenipsit State Forest in Somers, CT. CTNEMBA invites all off-road bicyclists to come enjoy the technical and hilly trails for a fun tour of this forest which has been cited as one of the ten best Urban Escape Rides in the nation by Mountain Bike magazine. The trail routes will be clearly marked, allowing riders to go at their own pace.

Date: Sunday, July 13, 2003
Time: Registration begins at 9:00 A.M., and ends at 12:00 P.M. Ride all day at your own pace, followed by a party hosted by Harpoon Brewery in an area establishment afterward.
Cost: $15 for the general public, $10 for NEMBA members, and FREE to anyone who joins NEMBA on the morning of the ride. Kids 15 and under are free with a parent or guardian.

The Charity: NEMBA Land Preservation Fund and our campaign to purchase and preserve 47 acres in Milford, MA, aka. Vietnam. Please consider contributing to the first ever land acquisition purchase by a mountain bicycling advocacy group in the United States.

Take Rte I-91, exit 47 (rte.190, Enfield) to Rte. 190 east. Follow Rte. 190 east to Somers, CT. Continue on Rte. 190 east through the rte.83 intersection (7.4 mile elapsed). Turn right at the next flashing yellow light onto Gulf Road (8.5 miles elapsed). Follow Gulf Road to Soapstone Mountain Road and forest entrance, which will be on the right (10.3 miles elapsed).
