Solid Wood
Due to the success of the Solid Gold bike, my crew is looking for a new challenge. We are going to build a solid wood bike.
We do need your input on the type of wood to use. I was originally thinking of using honduras mahogany exclusively(to do my part to destroy the world's rain forests). But now I'm thinking it wood (ha ha ha) be better to use lumber native to New England, the home of NEMBA.
I think the frame wood (ha ha ha again) have to be hickory. For the seat, how about some soft Spruce from Maine?
The chain and chain rings will be a problem. We'll need the hardest wood for that. I believe ash is the hardest. Is this correct?
Please advise.
