Default The Disease Called Mountain Biking

Man I'm out of control with bikes. I never realized it could turn into such a disease. I mean my wife is pissed. She's cool though, she let me spend 3k on my bike. But squeezing another grand out of her for my new 1.5 sherman forks is getting tough. Between the 1.5 headset, forks and stem it's frign expensive. But she doesn't realize that parts is half the fun. For me at least. I love riding though, but I also love swapping seats, tires, cleaning my bike. Every time I get back from riding, a half hour later, my bike looks like it came off the showroom floor. I'm so nuts I even use a big scrub brush to clean the tires with armor all. I mean this thing gleams. I tell my wife " I dare you to find either a flaw or a spec of dirt on my bike" I'm so nuts I even
carry my bike after I clean it up to my "boom boom" room which is basically my surround sound room so I can look at it while I watch tv or movies. I mean I'm out of f*$#@!ng control with this biking thing. I got the disease folks. I don't think there is a cure either. Anyone else as out of control as me? PEACE, Kevin

Yeah I have to get some of those videos. I love the extreme stuff, but I'm the first to admit I have a disease. Is there anyone else that stares at their bike, or am I the only extremist in that respect. Kevin

I ride hard, but I am not going to ruin something I spent $3000.00 on. Thats just the way I am with anything I own. Whats the sense of denting the **** out of something I don't have to. I ride it, I ride hard, but I'm not gonna abuse it and ruin it. My friend is not like me. He has a 96 Yamaha Warrior 4 wheeler. He is still making payments on it and it's a wreck. He has the same thought process. Just ride it and wreck it. All the plastic is busted, the bars are bent. When your going straight on the thing the bars are turned to the left as if your taking a left turn. If you ask me he's a frign idiot. But thats cool. People always give me **** for keeping my stuff nice. I don't understand it. I just like to keep what I have spent hard earned money on in good shape, thats it. Kevin

I am definitely addicted too. I have a different strategy though. I ride my bike hard and break it often. Then I just bring it to my LBS where it is still covered by the warranty and get it fixed for free. Once the warranty ends, I think I'll get more symptoms and start keeping it super clean. Until then- LONG LIVE OVER ABUSE OF WARRANTIES. ( yes my lbs has stopped liking me)

    Kevin,

Tell your wife she's lucy it just mountain bikes, my husband buys a new MOTORCYCLE every year! Let's see - in '99 it was a Ducati Monster, in '00 it was a Buell something-or-other, then in '01 it was a BMW thing, and '02's lovely model is an Aprilia whatever. I stopped trying to remember what model they are.

But I'd really be worried if he started dragging 'em into the house so he could look at them all the time. ;D
