2010/2012 Pivot Mach 5 (Large) for Sale - $1,200 (Groton, MA)
My trusty Pivot Mach 5 (Large frame) is in very good cosmetic and excellent mechanical condition. This is an exceptional, well maintained trail/all mountain 26" wheel ride with 140mm Fox RP23 rear shock and 100/120/140 Fox Talas fork. It was originally the $4,800 Shimano XT component build complete bike from Pivot. Has new rear triangle from 2012 warrantied from factory. Has tubeless-ready all mountain XT wheelset, XT (direct mount) front derailleur, XT crankset, and new Shimano SLX brakes last year. Cassette, rear derailleur, and shifters are SRAM X-9. Very smooth shifting, and nice 22 tooth granny gear for climbing. Very light (about 27 lbs.), stiff, fast trail/all mountain rig with the incredibly efficient DW-Link rear suspension design. Climbs like a mountain goat and rails the downhills. All the bushings and bearings for rear suspension were replaced last year along with a rebuilt rear XT hub. Rear shock also serviced last season. Ridden only a few times this season. It has the usual superficial scratches on the frame and cranks. Fork stanchions are in great shape. Fork does not leak any oil or air.
Selling because the bike is just too big for me. Good size for rider of about 5'11" to 6" 3" height. Prefer local pick up sale, and cash on delivery. This is a very good deal at $1,200 firm.
The dw-link suspension design allows us to achieve the ultimate ride. The perfect balance of traction, acceleration, square edge bump performance, superior braking, and the ability to handle big hits with ease is what Pivot bikes are known for. The dw-link's patented position sensitive anti-squat eliminates pedal bob during hard pedaling efforts out of the saddle and gives the bike additional traction while climbing (seated or standing) as well as really helping propel the bike forward during sprinting and hard efforts out of corners. The design starts out with a slightly rearward travel path for better square edge bump performance and then goes to a more vertical path, remaining active throughout the travel. The dw-link truly allows us the tunability to give the rider the best pedaling performance possible without sacrificing braking or suspension feel. Simply put, the dw-link is the next level of suspension design.
