Default Anyone riding the Honey 100 Sat Sept 14?

If so, I'll see you there. I'll be the guy on the orange Salsa Vaya.

It's a 100km mixed terrain ride (66% off-pavement). It'll be my first non-MTB group ride, ever. Longest distance, ever. I'm ready to embarrass myself.

I've ridden MTBs for 15 years, but this year I wanted to get into some more road riding, so I could cut down on driving to trailheads. But I still wanted avoid cars and be in the woods, so I got a gravel bike with relatively fat tires, that isn't a hog to ride on pavement. (Also made for an excellent commuter.) It's been fun!

Anyone else exploring gravel or beat-up back roads when they're not on their MTB?

Take your bike rack off your car when not in use, save 10-20% on gas. And have a forest left to ride in.

I ride lots of dirt roads on my Orbea road bike. 25's for tires and a 39/27 low gear do it for me. I've taken it down many roads you'd need a 4x4 truck to drive on. I'm not a big fan of turning back . For a ride like the Honey 100 I'd opt for my cross bike.
