Not a bmx'er but an ss'er with a few years under the hood. I've good luck with the Gusset:

Upon further review, I've a few of these setups left in the shop. PM me & I'll give you the hook up with a couple masterlinks.

Actually it's not the links I need, it's a special pin.....probably the wrong forum--but my son's halflink chain--a 'Shadow Conspiracy', love BMX names...--seems to require a master pin to reassemble every time. Question is it totally necessary? (since the extra one is long gone, and we can't remember what it looked like) I'm guessing that it's much longer than the regular pins, and tapered in order to be easily pushed through to hold the chain together and the pin straight while using the tool? Then the extra breaks off? Am I making any sense?

I usually just don't drive the pin all way out, so it's still in place to drive back in for re-assembly.
FWIW - seems like half link chains stretch more and faster than regular chains. I also had a couple snap on me in pretty short order, which was surprising. I was running them on my bmx/dj bikes for awhile, but switched back when it came time to replace them. Currently liking the KMC K710 1/8" (not the 'superlight' version). It's one burly-ass chain.
