Most of what I carry my hand saw is for branches/ limbs from blow downs. I've got support from my local cons/ com. I'm even a land steward for my local area, go figure.

SS rule the dirt!
Isn't this the same uninformed Jim H. that popped up not too long ago screaming about Otis, the CC Nemba crew that does nothing, Otis being NE Forestry Land, needing permission to clear blowdowns on trails......and a buncha other blah, blah, blah?
Yes, he continues to appear to be uninformed and quick to throw out inaccurate statements.....but, hey, at least he's consistent.
Maybe we should point him to the MAS Message Board ( do they even have one????). hahahaha
I was thinking of throwing up 'joke' posts to see if I can get Jim to respond. Something like, "........and I was riding down this trail that I've never been on before and because I didn't know who the land manager was, I threw my empty Gu packets in a stream off the bridge I widdled from a tree that I cut down with my hand saw. I also decided that the trail was too lame, so I cut a new trail using my spoke wrench shock pump. The new trail is so much nicer, you now get a beautiful view of 100's of posted 'No Tresspassing' signs and even get to jump over a barbed wire boundary fence. I then decided to take multiple rocks off this historic stone wall to make a cool rock garden thru a sensitive swamp area. Boss."

Quite obviously I do know what I'm talking about. Read the Trail Advocacy post on The Borderland. Two or three people work hard to forge a relationship with the land owners. The rest with folding saws in their Camel Back do what they want because it's all about them and screw it all up.
Iv'e assumed nothing Slappy. I know of what speak. The assumptions are all your's.
Here you go boss. Call 508 759 3406. Ask for Jason Zimmer the South East Director Of Mass Wildlife. The Otis trails are on wild life management area lands that he oversees. Ask him if he has had any contact with Cape Cod NEMBA or any other NEMBA. Make this call and talk with Jason. Put up or shut up. Time for You to get informed.
I think That Otis trail area would be a great place to set up a time trial course and hold competitions. It can be done But someone would have to put in some work forging a working relationship with Mass Wildlife. Come on step up Antmav, anyone please.
You thread jacking douche...........this is a thread about hand saws and I won't hijack this thread any further with responses to your nonsense. Instead, I'll respond to you in the original thread you 'popped up' on.
If you don't have anything to add on the current topic, and no we're not talking about setting up a damn time trial course either genius, start your own 'Otis Time Trial" of 'Mass Wildlife Relationship" threads.

Goodbye,

You won't be missed.
Should be posting in the 'World Revolves Around Me' forum.
The Cape is hours away from me, as well as a many of other posters in this thread. Whatever perceived local issues may or may not exist in your neck of the woods tell you absolutely nothing about what goes on in mine, or anybody elses'. You're bitching out people from as far away as the White Mountains when you have no frigging idea AT ALL about their local situations and relationships with land owners/managers. You got problems in your neighborhood, work them out with your neighbors. You don't see anybody else here demanding that other people travel hours to do their work for them, or acting like the entire world should make their local trails top priority, even if many of us may never even ride there.
Also, nobody I ride with could give a **** about time trials, and if we did, we sure wouldn't waste time organizing one that we'd have to drive hours to get to so it would be convenient for you. Newsflash - the world is bigger than Cape Cod. And most of the people in it could care less about what Jim H wants from them.

truth
slappy said it best
I saw blowdowns -everywhere- on established trails that didn't have a blowdown before...and -everyone- appreciates it.
I think about certain blowdowns which have become 'favored obstacles' and try not to remove those.
I will continue to saw storm damage and deadfall on established trails. I only took 2011 off because of
my blowed up knee (which is coming around... so I am back out cleaning up crap so the bullet-train can come through,
and also get my LSD in... so I may once again, join those trains with a somewhat decent chance of hanging in the
same time zone)
and you don't even have one clue where I ride, saw, how far I go, which land I
ride is private or public, or even know about my personal 60 acre trail playground
and pump track in Maine. so there, dippy. I could have been talking about that all along.
BACK TO THE THREAD I find that the Silky is not losing it's sharpness the way my pocket chainsaw seemed to.
I never let either one touch dirt, but each time I attack a new FAT oak with the Silky, I think 'it has to get harder
to do eventually'. Nope...since the photo I posted I have done 11 more fat oaks and maples, and it still
chows down on wood like a hobo on a hammie.
