As you are probably aware, Bear Brook State Park was hit hard with the wind storm a few weeks ago. The snowmobile club has already been out and cut out the big trees from the main snowmobile trails, but the hiking/riding trails are going to be up to us. The park manager is relying on volunteers to work on the trails, as he's up to his armpits in downed trees in the campground.

I propose that we meet at the hiker/biker lot at 8:45 this Saturday March 20th. We will plan on working until noon. Bring gloves, rake (either leaf or metal), and water. Anyone that has and knows how to use a chainsaw, PLEASE bring it! We will start on the main trails from the parking area. Depending on how many people show up, we will split into groups.

Every trail I've been on so far has multiple large trees down on them. The park NEEDS your help! It's going to be a beautiful day on Saturday, so come join us to make the park a better place! Please forward this message to anyone who might be interested.

We may try for a mountain bike ride afterwards......as I've said, the trails are a mess. If we do go for a ride, it will be more of a ride to take inventory on which trails to work on next. But bring a bike just in case....you never know!

Thanks! Kathy, NEMBA Bear Brook State Park Trail Ambassador
