Slowly. Once the weather got nicer, I really lost time to work on it. So as of now it's a painted frame that needs to be sanded and clear coated, then built. Probably a winter project, as my summer free time consists of the hours between 12AM - 5AM.

As far as the magic gear ratio, I'm not sure what would work. Maybe Sheldon Brown's page has some info that might help. You could always go the half link route...
