Default NE CT was great today

Slider and I did a great ride at the Snip today. Just fantastic winter conditions, the pay for such great riding was burning quads, yikes that snow adds some resistance.

I did a hike yesterday and noted that the surface was pretty well packed from the snow machines. The forecast called for sub freezing temps last night so I figured today would be good for riding. I ignored the email call for a road ride. I'm staying in the woods as long as I can.

The conditions today were excellent. We did a "Dad friendly" start time of 08:00, which meant the trails were frozen for a bit more than half of our ride (that return trip was brutal). While the riding was excellent 3.5 hours of riding in this stuff is a work out! My quads were burning climbing those last few hills. Imagine riding with your brakes dragging, that what it really felt like today. Every once and a while we'd come across some sections which were frozen solid, what a relief after plowing through the snow.

I don't have any pics of the downhills, but man were some of them fun today. Like skiing on a bike.

Stunts were easily ridden before things softened up:

Looks like it was a great ride. Conn's sure got some nice trails!

Because of conditions, we could bushwhack trails off all the ledges, with no damage to either ourselves or the woods. It was like riding in four inches of cotton batting.

It's hard to advertise a ride like that; you really don't know what the conditions will be like until you're out there. We got lucky.
