[/quote]Is that a note of sarcasm I hear? If you can point out any specific cases of illegal or unethical practices on his part, please do.

Specifically on his part? No. Just the gas/oil industry in general.

I agree, he got results and is paid accordingly. No different than sports figures or anyone else. The market dictates what any given function is worth.
I just wish I were as smart and motivated as that guy. He probably has to pry the chicks off with a crowbar too ;D

Damn oil companies.
In an April 13 New York Times story, "Exxon Chairman Got Retirement Package Worth at Least $398 Million," reporter Jad Mouawad pointed out: "The total sum for Mr. Raymond's golden years comes to at least $398 million, among the richest compensation packages ever. The record was the payout of $550 million to Michael D. Eisner, the former head of Walt Disney, in 1997." See: www.nytimes.com

Re:Exxon Chairman gets $400 million retirement package
OK, next time we give a large, screw-the-consumer industry a multi billion dollar bailout, we'll make sure you guys unbothered by it cover the $400million handshake to the chief executive of the most profitable corporation. You seem quite OK with that.
Personally, I'll earmark my own tax dollars for things like healthcare, education, and other things that don't aren't so obscene as a $400million gift to an executive whose main contribution seems to be his ability to suck up to a profiteering fascist.
You really gotta be joking.
