Case Mt today
I'm a creature of habit. In my mind, I've figured out the best trails. I just ride that loop anytime I ride a particular place. Today Slider suggests we <gasp> start from a different parking lot at Case (the one just off 384). Not wanting to look like I'm a control freak, I agree.
It was like riding a different place. I mean a lot of what we rode was stuff we usually ride, but in the other direction with a different destination, it takes on a whole new look and feel.
Anyway, trails were in excellent shape. Great ride. We did a lot of hills up and down.

Re:Case Mt today
The good news, conditions at Case are great. Actually, with little to no leaves on the trees, there is no shade and on Saturday the temperature was near the mid-eighties. I don't want it to get any hotter than that. The breeze in the open areas was welcome.
The bad news, don't go out on the trails without insect repellant now unless you are immune to blood sucking parasitic insects or you ride very very fast and don't stop for anything!
Very little mud except at water crossings.

Re:Case Mt today
Several large Oak trees blown down across the trails after yesterday's storm. Chain saws will be needed, otherwise there will be some new "braids" in the trail.
If you will volunteer to help with trail maintenance, please contact the land manager at the phone number posted at the kiosk in the parking lot.
With these large trees and a chainsaw, maybe they will build a nice log pile to ride over, rather than simply clearing the trail (possibly with an alternate line for those so inclined)!
