shotgun season
OK everyone if you are riding during the day be aware that shotgun season started yesterday in MA for most regions. Here is an example of what can happen when you mix guns with less than average intelligence.

Re:shotgun season
SloMoJo and I discovered this . on our lunch time ride ran into 3 redneck looking gents all in orange carrying guns. yelled at us to put on orange. they were right we should have orange on , but where they were hunting is nuts, there are tons of people we see walking in those woods.

Re:shotgun season
Yep.
I need to get me some orange, cuz these hillbilly types are a scary bunch. When does the season end, and they go back to the lodge and beer drinking?
I for one, do not believe there was any bear involved in this accident. These stories happen ever year.

Re:shotgun season
shotgun season in most of eastern and central MA is untill 12/13. Muzzleloader starts 12/15 and ends 12/31. December is by far the most dangerous time to ride in the woods during daylight.
BTW Knuck I'd move your Leominster state forest ride to the 14th (no hunting on sundays). Leominster is a very popular hunting destination

Thanks AA.
Happy day after.
3 more years and we'll be the same age.
Cuz I'm gonna stop counting. :P
Knoockles,
14th works better for me...for what that's worth.

Re:shotgun season
I've been out there on several occasions and have never run into a hunter. Are you sure they allow hunting at LSF?
Anyhow I'm gonna ride around with one of those loud chrome horns on my bike. I'll put this on top of my helmet too.

Got to love that helmet.
The reason you probably havent seen any hunters in Leominster yet is that its been archery season. Shotgun started on monday. The archery guys are a little more serious than the shotgun guys. They typically wear camo gear and sit in tree stands out of sight of everyone. The shotgun hunters wear orange and walk around shooting at movement in the bushes or randomly firing at the sound of bikes shifting (just kidding)
and yes hunting is allowed in LSF

Yes, bear and beer are suspiciously close in spelling. They were most likely drinking beer, and playing skeet shoot with the can. :-

Now that story, I would find completely believable.

Re:shotgun season
Now I read that hunting with shotguns ends on 12/13 which is the LSF ride for Saturday. Does that mean that shotgun season ends on 12/13? like 12am 12/13 or until midinight on 12/13?
Knuck
