  • "seasons" video...

So, got this idea of using my cam and recording a short section of a trail every month (or more)for a yr then assemble a seasons video with the trail going through a 1 yr cycle during... thought it might be cool if others did it too with their favorite trail.. .. maybe even make a kinda a video contest... anyone interested? just something slightly diff from the same old-same old vids we end up watching now so many people have cams...

That sounds like a cool idea! I am kind of doing that about once a week anyway. I do this to watch how I am progressing in my skill and fitness since I am a relative Beginner so I ride the same trail to see how far I get without stopping from either being tired or some technical piece of trail I have yet to master.

nice.. I've kinda been doing but have been trashing the raw vids after making a "final Edit" as they are such a big file. but, I'm going to start.. (today maybe?) and just save the short chunk of the section to make the seasons out of .. not sooo much hardrive taken up that way

The files are huge especially if your using the 1080 setting at 30 fps. I changed mine to be 720/60, but didn't like the video that much. I put it back. I am doing the same thing. Grabbing the section of video I want and getting rid of the rest. I post them to youtube after that. I have only done one so far. If you want to check it out it's at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDFhdAnK2o4 Nothing special, but it's a fun trail at Harold Parker State Forest. This vid is in 720/60 and youtube said it was fixing the shakyness but it didn't it made it worse.

I completely forgot about this! I just haven't been motivated to bring the camera with me at all. Too lazy to sit down and put all the footage together. If I can find some motivation maybe I will do one this year.

I just bring my cam and run it all the time when on that trail... I don't scan the footage much, just been throwing it on a external hard drive and look at it some rain night and throw out obvious crap for now..

With all the rain these last couple of weeks I could have gone through footage if I had any! :-) I am still trying to decide on the best mount for the video. I am thinking I might want to devise something so I can attach it to my shoulder strap and kind of get an over the should view of the ride. What are you using?

I have mine wrapped around the top tube-down tube right behind the head tube. Got a contour so it's low profile there.. if ya got a Gopro the best vid's I've seen are with the chest mount.

tried the whole shoulder thing.. doesn't work well, one you use your shoulders so much it actually bounces it around more,.. and it's near impossible to get it tight enough to not bobble around on it's own.

I did see a video where they built a mount to go inside the backpack but above and behind your head. It gave a really nice view. I would be scared of getting caught on some low hanging branches though! I might just have to get the chest mount those do seem to be the best.

What do you guys use to edit your videos? I have a Countour HD1080p, which creates .mov files; when I load them onto an iPad they end up in the "Videos" section. iMovie on the iPad looks in the Camera Roll/Photo Stream and I can't get it to find them. Can't find any info on the interwebs as to why (most of the iMovie support posts are related to iMac or Macbook, and nothing Contour-specific that I can see anyway). I tried Contour's StoryTeller app on my old Win XP laptop, that seems to be just a player with no real editing capability. I know there's an apple VideoShop app, but I don't want to download if that's not going to work either. Any info is appreciated.
