With the Landmine Classic race only a week away Wompatuck might be needing some serious work. It does have 25 miles worth of race course to clear if this gets hairy. I was wondering if anyone was planning ahead of time to have a crew of volunteers ready? Not sure how this would work. "I am writing to inform you of an upcoming Volunteer Day, August 28th 2010, at the Middlesex Fells Reservation starting at 9 am, ending at 2 pm. We will meet at the Flynn Rink parking lot tentatively, and will work on a variety of tasks during the day, including: closing and maintaining trails, restoring fire roads, planting trees, and removing garbage/invasive species. Volunteers are advised to wear closed shoes and long pants because of poison ivy, and some tools that may be used. Also, if you have gloves/protective gear they are always handy to have; and bring lunch and water. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me."
