I've tried two Race Face BB's on my FS bike, and they just don't seem to hold up. The bike came with a prodigy set...wore the bearings down in a less than 200 miles. I listened to the thign creak for as long as possible, and upgraded to a more expensive Race Face (trying to stick with that company 'cause they made the crank, too!). This worked great, until making several wintery rides recently. Now the bb presents a significant amount of resistance to spinning....removed this and it feels as though the bearings have started to sieze.....of course it is pretty tough to open to clean and regrease.......So now I'm in the marked for a new bb.

Does anyone have any advice on where to go from here.....I'd like to get more reliability without breaking the bank........or is this what I need to do ????

Thanks!

It's possible your frames bottom bracket shell needs to be checked out, and possibly the RacefaceF BB's you've been frying are not the problem.
A number of things to have LBS look at include:
-Thread alignment (thread tapping) - between left set/right set.
-Facing the shell - check to see that shell faces are parralell.
I suspect you'll probably find the solution there.

This is the tool that Park supplies to many shops to check these items:
