I just moved my work location and am looking for trails close enough for lunch hour rides. Any suggestions for very close to the junction of Concord Road and Rt-3 in Billerica? Any maps?
Thanks!

There are a few places that may be close enough for lunch rides. Keep your eyes posted on the ride board section of the forum once the snow melts. Couching Tiger posts rides for that area often.

You're not that far from Great Brook in Carlisle, and Warren Manning State Forest is just to the north of you. I haven't ridden the latter, but if memory serves there's a review or two on www.mtbr.com. Further up Rt. 3 (Exit 32/Rt. 4) is a few minutes from Lowell-Dracut Forest.
Great Brook & Lowell Dracut probably have the most riding, and there's some neat stuff in & around Carlisle/Chelmsford that you can link up with Great Brook to do a nice 15+ miler ride.

And then of course, if you want to do some dirt jumping there are the prison trails which are just up the road a bit. AA and I have ridden there (in a hail storm) from my place in Bedford and went right by the intersection of Concord Rd/RT3. There is an old RR bed just toward Billerica center from there which can connect to a few trails and you can use it to get to the Prison Trails. There is also a park up there a little further (Manning maybe) in Billerica.

I used to work at the intersection of 129 and Rt. 3... I could ride to Great Brook in about 10 minutes, hit a few miles of trails, and then get back, usually inside an hour.
It should be pretty easy for you to figure out how to get into GB from work. Are you near exit 28 or 27?

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like there are a few options to get rides in the area, (I am close to Rt-3 exit 27). I'll give Manning Park a try and see if time allows Great Brook. I'll watch for Crouching Tiger posts. Thanks!

I used to work at BARD right there on Concord rode. There is a small trail network along the river. If you ride down the old railroad bed you should find them, if they still exist. We would find our way to River st. and bang a left after the bridge. At the end of the street there is another trail network that will go under route 3 and hook up with the stuff by the prison. A lot of those trails may be gone now. Made for some great lunch time rides. We could make over to the prison trails and back in an hour or so. Be warned that it will be very wet/muddy in the spring. Not too bad for being able to step out the back door at work and get a ride in at lunch.
