View Full Version : Arcadia Trail Conditions ???

Anyone ventured out to Arcadia and/or Big River since last Friday's snowstorm? Imagine the roads are rideable but thats about it. Maybe the snowmobiles have been in and packed down some of the trails?
Hard to believe but a bit more snow on the way for Wednesday and a bigger storm for Saturday. Guess its payback for the last couple of generally snowless winters we have experienced.

Finally made it out to Arcadia this afternoon and here is what I found. Rode up Frosty Hollow Road from the white church and it was fine except for a couple of slushy areas near the first small pond on the right. Took a right onto to Austin Farm Road down to Breakheart Pond. Tried both trails around the pond, however, snow too deep to make much headway. Maybe a lighter rider might have better luck?? Rode around for a another hour staying on roads only. All trails I checked have too much snow still. Was hoping to locate some snowmobile tracks to try out but no luck so far. You could make up a loop to ride just using the existing road network but I doubt the singletrack will be open anytime soon. Lots of xc skier tracks all over the place.
Sorry for the bad news. I sure miss the singletrack!

Heres the good news: Was hiking with the dog Sunday am and there are lots of snowmobile and ATV tracks in the snow around Breakheart Pond. I'm not sure but I think they packed the snow down enough to try and ride on. May give it a go Monday early. Now...
the bad news: wer'e about to get hammered with another major storm sometime between Monday at noon and thru Tuesday. Talking about 1 ft. of snow. Oh well...

Damn! Thats alot of snow. Picked up 15-20 inches down my way so figure Arcadia picked up about the same. Time to clean the bike anyway.
