The forcast for the upcoming weekend looks pretty nice for riding......temps at or above freezing and maybe a flurry or two. Has anyone visited the trails in Acadia/Otis/Wompi recently?? Do conditions at any of these areas dictate the use of my Nokians??? I'm thinking Saturday right now...I've got some commitments for Sunday. Thanks for the help!

Good for you.
Nokians?
Wompi - yes
Otis - no
Enjoy!

I rode Wompi last weekend, there is plenty of ice so I would recommend the nokians

Rode Otis two weeks ago with nokians.... wished that I left the studs at home! Rode Borderland last sunday without
studs, had to be too careful because of ice.

No studs needed for Arcadia. At the most those trails still with any snow have less than an inch. A lot of trails are now clear.

Just got home from my ride at Wompi. Great Fun!
I went with the studs as recommended. The ice still exists in MANY places, and the studs made all those areas easy to negotiate......use them tomorrow.
A few more warm days with this rain and the trails are gonna be in spring (read MUD) conditions.
I especially enjoyed the stuff in the N11 area....those wooden ramps were very slick....
Enjoy the ride tomorrow!

Off to Wompi tomorrow morning, and leaving the studs on, per advice above. Thanks, gentlemen! Come to Harpoon and I'll pour the beers to show my appreciation!
It's going to feel so damn good to go whipping thru the woods again!

Hey folks....how was Wompi today??? Get much snow down there?? Probably fun now matter what! You folks doing it again next weekend?
Noo...where you ridin' in Newfields these days? Rail trail? Oakland? Exeter side? where?? Let me know....let's get together for a ride.....Massabesic was starting to pack out nicely....rode there last weekend. This heavy wet snow and the warm temps over the next couple days should make the snowmobile trails hardpacked.....and fast!

we went for a severly muddy cold wet ride in arcadia this am i have never been so dirty after a ride in my life. you were eating mud roostertails from the guy 20 feet in front of you as you coated the guy behind yourself. it stopped raining as soon as i pulled into the lot. much to the relief of all present.the worst part was hitting patches of ice with fresh rain on top, everyone crashed at least once today.but it was still a great ride, any day on the trail is a good day. the cleaning took over an hour and its still not done.

Well Slomojo, justbill, yogi and I went to wompi today. Riding was great except for the fact that Slomojo morphed into pk and turn a nice 2 hour ride into a 3 + hour epic ride. Just joking! great time had by all. The problem was that the weather man f-ed up the forcast. Most of us didn't bring enough clothing of some sort. Only real problem was everyone suffered from cold feet. Just plain soaked to the bone. Nice to meet some of the forum members. Slomojo,justbill(a.k.a. the wompi wizard) and yogi are good people. The troopers they are even frozen to the bone shared in a nice cold I.P.A. pale ale after the ride. Victory beer is a must. Great day!

Well I got out and Rode the Vietnam on Saturday, there is a trail that has Been used quite a bit by quads, and has packed down a set of nice 8 inch wide tracks. That goes from Dunster Road to the power lines , then under the power lines there are lots of tracks from both quads and Jeeps. Was a hell of a lot of work . and if you went off of that packed snow your wheel would instatly Drop down through 12 inches of snow and and Endo would result. ( I did a couple :) )I did one real Good Launch on a down hill! ( Look Ma ! No Hands ! NO BIKE !!!! ) Having a foot + of snow to land on did make that a lot easier.
The Mother Nature Slams us with 4 New inches of HEAVY wet snow! Was planning to Go with Justbill , EB , SMJ and Yogi! but after 2 hours of soveling snow, and getting very cold wet feet decided against! sorry guys maybe next time .

Yeah Buddy, it was great to get out this Sunday and ride with the guys. It was a challenge alright at Wompi, but much fun and enjoyed dinner and beer with the guys.
I felt bad for the guys having cold feet issues, but not bad enough to take the shortcut back. ;)
