has anyone ever come across this? i was mounting an avid mech caliper to a 2002 marzocchi z1fr qr20 fork the mounting bracket hits the fork tabs betwiin the mounting bolts causing the caliper to turn into the center its not alot but enough so i cant even get the wheel back on. i guess i can file the fork tab down and the problem will be cured. i have never seen this before. should i take it to the bike shop where i bought the brake?or file down the fork?

I'm not sure what your problem is by your description...
I would strongly discourage you from "Filing" your fork's disc brake tabs. Your Pro LBS should have the tool made by Magura for machining your disc brake tabs flush and square.

the mounting bracket for the caliper is hitting the area between the tabs, there seems to be a ridge. the fork was dressed b4 i bought it. it came off a cannondale with hayes brakes.

Hey Sparkster - hows it goin.
Agent Grape - Are you tryin to mount a 160mm (6inch) rotor and disc brake adapter to this QR20 fork? If my memory serves me, my friend who has this fork told me it is set up to take Intrnational Standard 8 Inch rotor/Calipers - only... IF SO,, it would seem to me that this could be your problem...Maybe the 160mm/6 inch adapter for an avid disc won't work...
Sparkster...Maybe you can verify this for agentgrape...
It seems to me that this may not be a problem with the Avid 203mm disc setup, but I don't know...look into it, and DONT get the file out.

i took the bike to the lbs i got the brake from. they called marzocchi and discussed the situation. they faxed a diagram and showed where the mount hit in between the tabs. there was a ridge of extra material in between the mounting tabs they filed it flat and level less tan 1/64 inch removed. and shimmed the top and bottom. its fits perfectly. they put on a new xtr brake cable adjusted and test drove it $26.00
