View Full Version : Bikeless

It is zero degrees outside, gets dark early and I am bikeless. My bike is on a truck to its new home in Texas, and I am without a steed. :( In less then 10 days I will receive a shiny 2003 bullit frame. This two weeks will be torture. I know it is not peak riding season, but what if all the snow melts before I wake up tomorrow? What if someone wants to give me a set of studded tires? This is the first time in over 12 years that I have not had a ridable mountain bike. What am I to do?

I guess that means that I need to begin my winter projects, a single speed, and a bullit...

Hard to feel bad for a guy waiting on his new Bullit frame.
You were determined...good show.

Tease us with some pics as you build it up, eh?

JT -

You skipped the Heckler and went for the Bullit huh?

I will post shots of both. Since I too have a shimano free Univega road bike maybe I should go for a ride with McMark if the jones sets in too hard!

I did skip the heckler.. a few reasons #1 was availability, the bullit was in stock in transparent red in my size and ready to ship...but then comes the technical stuff
Bullit is 1 pound heavier with 3 inches more travel - Big sell point
5th element turns bullit into an xc machine - bigger sell point
When I first started riding mt bikes a 30 pounder was light! An we all know I relish the good ole days of biking...

You're going to love the 5th Element! I'm just tearing mine down after it's first season on the back of my Uzzi. The only people concerned with a 30+lb freeride beast like your Bullit will be your XC-rig riding friends that have trouble outrunning you on rides:)

I've seen JT's Uni and it is just slightly nicer than mine....actually it is WAY nicer than mine!

JT if you are jonesin to pedal just give me a holler and let me know when and where and what paved surface we'll be riding. I'll find a way to make it!

And NOO, the real reason he bypassed the Heckler was that he wanted to make sure there was one left for me. ;) (Maybe).

Hey JT will there be any white and blue parts to go on that Trans Red Bullit?? I think I may have a Habs logo sticker here somewhere you could slap on that Bullit. ;D

You are going to have one newfangled sweet bike in that Bullit and one oldfangled sweet single speed in that Stowe yours! Lucky bastard. I can't think of it happening to a nicer guy though.

Cheers!

trans alp red bullitt !!!!!! ok i had to go out to the garage to make sure it was still there. you are going to love your new ride. give us the skinny on the parts list . also check with dawgee as his bullitt is almost finished. i walked into the bike shop 10 minutes after they finished building it. it didnt get to be on display for 5 minutes. i asked to take it for a spin lost my mind and took it home. what a crazy ride home that was i stuffed it into my 1971 mach1 wheels off, handle bars off, pedals off, seatpost out. only 1 wheel fit in trunk the rollcage is in the way and the nitrous tanks made it a tight fit.what a great day that was.

Mark,
The only stickers that will grace my bike are a NEMBA sticker and my Kingdom Trails Membership. I guess you could say it is red from the bleeding Bruins, Pats, Celts, and getting ready for the Sox... I now know why I procrastinated becoming a New England sports fan...

BTW - Are the canadiens jerseys red white and blue cause they really want to be playing a little further south?

Grape Ape - Here is the current parts list:
Race face Turbine LP cranks and bb, Suntour XC Pro 8 speed rear derailer, Xt front, Suntour thumbshifter for the XT, grip shift for the rear, Selle flight saddle, titec bar, time pedals, sram chain.

I will be adding all of the rest of the stuff as I go. What I want and what I will get may differ, so I will keep you informed as stuff comes in...

J.T.

It seems to me the bigger problem isn't that you are bikeless right now but that you don't own more bikes. Only 1 MTB is never enough. Get that SS built up!

When selling a bike online it is best to plan the sale to coincide with the receipt of a new bike so that you are not left "bikeless" for two whole weeks. ;D

I believe you meant 2 inches (5 vs. 7) but who cares. That will be a sweet ride. If I didn't have the patience to wait for the Blur I'd be the onwer of a Heckler right now.

My LBS has a shop Bullit for emplyess and customers....I'll have to take it out to see what this hubabalub is all about....maybe I shouldn't...these Bullit procurements seem to spread like an infectious disease...

NOO,

Are you saying that the shop you bought from had a Heckler available for sale? Or do you mean that the wait for a Heckler will be shorter than a wait for a Blur?

The latest I heard was that the wait for a Heckler was 8 to 10 weeks! YIKES!

Are you crossing off the days on your calendar until that frame arrives?

Markus Orellius Questionis -

I think they still have at least one black Heckler - built up - but I forgot the size. They also have some Trans Blue and Trans Gold SC's but I forgot whether they are Superlights or Hecklers.

I may be in there this week so I can check it out. I'll PM you with any details. Let you know there is no Sales Tax in NH.

The Heckler is shorter wait than the Blur.

Yes - I am fired up to for the Blur. The Heckler is also a nice ride but with 4.5 inches on the VPP Blur I should be able to have a blast...

MMcG - You have been doing some due diligence on the research end. Pls share with us all your short list - to date. Everyone can offer their own skewed opinions. :D

Dude, I feel your pain. I have 2 bikes right now, but I feel bikeless as my new bike is about 2 months away. I'm getting a Kona Stinky 9. It's already done up so it needs nothing, but right after that, Ima gunna get me a bullit frame. I am out of control with bikes. I feel bikeless because all I can think about is that new Kona. I stare at it on the web all day at work and all night when I get home. I'm out of control. I always have some sort of part on order, like right now I'm awaiting 2 stems, an Azonic Shorty and a Race Face Diabolus 50mm stem. I have the 70mm one already, but never can have too many stems. Always gotta have some part comin. Gives me something to look forward too. I'm out of control dude. I love parts. I'm a parts junkie. It sucks that work is so sh*tty right now. I have to wait one whole week to get the 1200 then drive 2 hours up to papa wheelies to get that kona secured. God I can't wait for this week to end. I think I'll be able to relax once I get that thing ordered, then I can save up the rest. With work being so bad, it's tough to have to wait. I'm use to next day air. I'm sick dude. I'm real sick. I got bit bad. I eat sleep, drink and breathe bikes. I want my wife to okay a new bike for her, just so I can get off ordering the parts and putting it together. I've got the whole Spring and Summer planned out. Moab, UTAH; Colorado; Mt. Snow and maybee B.C, maybee. I can hardly sleep thinking about that new Kona. I love bikes. I love bikes. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike. I'm gettin a new bike. New Bike. New Bike.

In stock they have one Black Heckler - MEDIUM - built up with a Super X Kit. They have a demo Heckler you could schedule to ride - (large).

They sold the shop demo Bullit. >:(

Glad Knucklehumper is back! I think I read he is picking up a bike at Papa Wheelies??

I'm on my way back from a trip...gotta go.
