View Full Version : Who Rode this weekend and where?

I rode about 4 and a half miles or so on Saturday here in NE CT. It was a solo ride and the trails were in good shape out here at Schoolhouse Brook. It was good in a way for me to go for a solo run, but I sorta missed having some friends along for the ride. I find that I'm talking to myself too much lately!

I wanted to go out and ride again on Sunday, but that didn't happen.

So, who else got out, where did you ride, and how was it??

Take care,

McASkalot

Wow...cool shot Adam!
Think I would take the path around that rock myself. ;)

I already blabbed about the Vietnam ride Saturday.

Well, looks like winter shall return this week, eh?
I'm...dreaming...of a white...Christmas. :)

What a sweet weekend to ride for December. Unfortunately I DID NOT get out. I'm kind of embarassed...... :-[

Instead I ripped apart a bathroom and put some ash treads on the stairwell....

I was in Great Brook for about 2 hrs yesterday. (No car needed to go there)

Any trail where hikers and horses frequent is a freaking mess, 2ft holes from the horses, etc.. Most of the wider/flatter trails have flooding too.

The Nemba trails look almost as good as mid summer. Whoever designed those trails did a fantastic job!

Highlight of the ride for me was probably jumping down the rock wall in the middle of deer run without breaking my pace, etc.. (Now if I could just ride UP it!)

radair and I hooked up for a 2 1/2 hour spin on backyard trails in the white mountains, and it was perfect!

Twisty, frozen trails - mostly smooth, sheet ice - I couldn't believe what we could ride...

...and then of course when I dabbed, it was all over!

Can you tell this was my first time on studded tires? It was pretty cool. ;D I'm looking for getting out for some more!

Four of us did a 38 mile road ride Sunday. Beautiful vista from the Fruitlands Museum off to Wachusett Mtn, Watatic and Monadnock.

The trails around NEMBA central are thawing, and it's not a good time to be on them -- by foot or by bike. But I am doing a 8am ride tomorrow when things are nice and hard.

I agree with Philip - the trails down south are probably too wet for riding right now... :(

The trails up in the Whites are in primo icebiking condition, though. So if anyone is up next weekend - bring your bike along with your skis! Feel free to drop a line, and maybe we can hook up for a ride.

1 1/2 hrs Sunday in Foxboro. There's a lot of too-soft trails in the lower sections, but up in the hills was fine. Great day for a ride. Have to go on Sunday in December or else risk being mistaken for a deer by an armed man.

Hey Evil-do you know Lowell-Dracut forest well? I live about 1.5 miles from there & have been exploring there from time to time. I'd like to hook up with some folks who know it well.

About four and a half hours of gravel, pavement, fields, one ploughed clay (aargh...) field, railroad tracks, and singletrack. A general wonder wander. Inspected a bunch of infrastructure I had heard about (aargh again, it's on conservation land without permission...). Good general exploratory afternoon.

Hmm, maybe if we highlight some nice riding at Lowell-Dracut we'll draw attention to the place & some trail maintenance $$! I know the local NEMBA group has done some trailbuilding activitiy late this fall.
How's still & video of Lowell Dracut sound??

-Adam

PS-I did this one along with a cracked rib last summer at Lowell Dracut...

Sounds good to me. There is a new trail at the entrance to totman rd. will be nice once it gets worked in. The rock play ground has alot of potential. The head of the merrimac chaptor(Norn Blanchette) is in the process of building a new single track. Not sure how far he has gotten.(ran into a hunter..lol).But I will show you all I know . My riding buddy and I are thinking of guilding rides there this spring and summer.. Can't frickin wait to get out and ride.

I usually ride from the Totman Rd entrance (actually cut in from behind the medical-building/nursing home complex). It's a sandy slog with a water crossing (that's where we could use a nice bridge crossing) for the initial part, and the doubletrack leads nicely to the rock playground. That's a good place to practice things we probably shouldn't be using bikes for...
There used to be some makeshift ladder bridges & stunts nearby, but last time I was out they had been taken down. Probably a good thing, since they appeared to be very rickety to begin with!
-Adam
..taking a couple of days off since I've ridden 5 of the past 6 days 8)

The paint ballers have messed up some of the ladders and paths. use them for barricades. I love riding those rocks . not a nutty as nam ,but certainly fun.. I had slomojo out there .hope he had fun. Got him to do a few things he may have not tried with out someone there. Sounds like you know the place fairly well. E-mail the times you can go out and I will try to work around you.

I HAVE TRAVEL... WOOT!
