I have them on two of my bikes. The difference in shifting is minimal, but I've always found that last piece of derailleur housing with the big curve to be the first one to get gunked up. The roll-a-majig seems to increase the useful life of this.

The other thing I like about them is that they really clean up the cable run. No big loop back there to catch on sticks, etc.

A really good deal for $10, IMO

Well, I got one , and just put it on my Hard tail, Now we will see how well it works. If nothing else it does make the cable line look a hell of a lot better than that tight bend it puts on the cable housing.

I use the older XTR derailleur with the built in rollamajig. It works well and gives you some additional flexibility in cable routing.

Been usin one for years and it seems to work very well. As others have mentioned, that last curve of housing is a killer, so getting rid of it seems to be a good idea. Only thing to be aware of is, once it gets old/well-used, the bearing may need cleaning. A seized bearing in one of those things is even worse than a dirty housing loop. :-\

I used one for years until I got an xtr with
one built in.

you may need to take apart new ones and grease them better than they come. otherwise, they work and are def worth it. a seized or cruddy one can be revived with some alcohol, compressed air, and grease
