View Full Version : Truvativ - Crankset and BB
December 10th, 2002, 07:28 PM
Anyone have any experience with Truvativ GigaPipe Team SL BB and/or Stylo Team Cranks/Rings? They stiff?
Last two purchases in this area have been Race Face. However, this time around I can't justify the $$$ for the ISIS signature BB and Turbine LP.
I acually thought about an XT hollowtech but then I get stuck with a Shimano BB.
Thanks for any info,

Contrary to popular belief, the name "Truvativ" did not come from focus groups, PR flacks, or corporate image consultants. Its a combination of our motto "Truly Innovative Parts". Pronounce it "True-Vativ (as in "inno-vative") and people will know who you're talking about.

NOO,
I had the Stylo SS on one of my singlespeeds and they are not the stiffest of cranks although they are light. If you are going with the Giga-Pipe BB then you may want to consider a set of Hussfellers or Hussevelts.

I'm not sold on the Giga Pipe BB. Essentially looking for stiff, somewhat light crankset and BB to go on a XCish FS rig. Number of options with Race Face (prodigy?), Truvativ, FSA, Shimano, etc.
Ideally I'd like the Turbine LP as I have them on another bike. I also let a set go with a bike but they are all squared and I'm going ISIS this time around.
I might hold off and see what type of Bike related Gift Certs santa brings me....I've been more nice than naughty this year...

NOO,
I have a set of Race Face Prodigy XC on my Unit and they are both stiff and fairly light. I have the Turbine LP on my Hei Hei and they are very stiff and very light but $$$. I beleive the Big Game is using the Race Face Prodigy DH on his Intense and seems to like them allot. One of the Trials guys at the shop is sponsored by Tru-Vativ and he has the new Hossfellers on his bike and likes them allot. They are beat to hell from landings but still straight.
Don't know much about FSA.
Don't like Shimano.

You running a Prodigy BB? (call NOOaskalot ;D)
I was thinking of ponying up the extra clams for the Signature XS ISIS BB and going with a Prodigy XC cranks/rings. I assume that will work unlike Shimano where certain of their BB's don't go with crankset.
Holzfeller means woodcutter in German.....I like that

I have the Truvativ Stylo ISIS (non-team) on my x-c bike. Light, stiff and cheap (compared to Race Face). Big Game give thumbs up.
I have the Truvativ Hussefelt on my Intense. It came with a granny and middle and a trials ring. A little cheaper than Race Face Prodigy. Are they as stiff as the Prodigy? I really am not a good enough rider to tell you. I went with the Truvativs because the Prodigy are all sold out for this year (or so they told me)
