Hi,
This is my first post and I'm hoping you all can help me...Our 16 yr. old son has really taken to mountain biking (intermediate level,at least) and is really wishing for a helmet cam for the holiday...we have visited a few websights and I really don't know much about the tech. aspect. We will also need to purchase a reasonably priced camcorder to go with it...I welcome all of your input and advice!! Thanks so much.

Try a search on the web "Helmet Cameras." Ideally you want a small bullet lense mounted on your helmet with the video recorder/camera located in your backpack. This system, while more expensive than a video camer strapped to your helmet, is the best way to get footage and ensure some protection for the recording device as your son pushes his limits.

I use a homemade straight mini-dv camcorder box mounted on my helmet, as well as the bullet cam another poster mentioned from www.helmetcamera.com.
Both have pros & cons, and Pete Fagerlin's site does a great job of comparing the two methods. More info on my setup is at http://www.freerideclub.com/helmetcam_info.htm. Cheers,
