View Full Version : Bills v. Pats Part II

Big Game

Does anyone have an extra ticket for Sunday's game? I can't offer you any "money," but what I can offer you is my charm and grace.

I think we'll have a good game. Buffalo should be ready for the Pats after getting their adorable behinds so thoroughly kicked in at Rich Stadium earlier this year. Did I just say their behinds were adorable? Will anyone think that's weird? I don't think anyone will notice. They'll still fear you Big Game, there's no need to overcompensate your imposing manhood by saying something like "My front rotor is 8 inches."

I'm more interested in the Atlanta/Tampa Bay showdown. Mike Vick vs the Bucs 'D.

I don't care what you say, those Run 'n Gun quarterbacks are always a hit away from a long stint on the IR. Traditional pocket QB's stay better protected.

Indeed, the Pats vs Bills game will be a good one to watch. I sure enjoyed their last meeting. :)

I wonder if the Bills fans are still cheering how wonderful Drew is?

We already know Bledsoe is fully capable of loosing in Foxboro. Go Pats! :)

A lot of hype about Pats having 10 days off to get ready for this pivotal game. Let's hope they used their time wisely. It's no secret the key is for Brady to pick apart the Bills defensive flaws. Also the Pats need good pass coverage on D.

BG - Earlier this season I picked up 8 tickets on EBAY for the Denver game. They were actually reasonable. The game was awful but a good time nonetheless (8 Guys in a 15 ft Cube Truck with a generator, couches, TV - more beer and steaktips than you can shake a stick at - got ugly!). Other than Ebay or a corporate seat..good luck. Note: Gilette Stadium is the real deal.

I did just get rid of an extra tix for the Celtics on Friday, BG you were on my short list but figured you wouldn't make the commute. Plus there is only room for one superior being and I decided to fill that role.

Boon - agree with you on the QB statement for the NFL. College may be a different story.

On a seperate note: The cost to attend any Boston Sporting events is over the top. Gillette tix are scarce and cost a boatload, The Fleet Center is too expensive (althought the B's are hot) and even Fenway is getting ridiculous...and that whole roping off Yawkey way for vendors, etc. overated. I'd rather hit the cask or who's on first or the BBQ wolf.

As a native Western New Yorker I had to get that one in (even though I'm not a very big football fan......could never figure out what was so great about a sport that you practiced six days a week for in order to play just one game per week??).

NOO......again sage advice on the stiff soles but won't too stiff a sole work against you if you have to hike a bike or if your frame busts in two in the middle of an epic ride? ;)

Hey NOO, Sox tickets are going up again next year. They are, BY FAR, the most expensive MLB team to see live.

The wife and I were in Philly for work a couple years ago and went to a Phillies game. $12 for front row, second deck, directly behind home plate. That was awesome. :)

That's the way it should be. Whatever happened to $8 bleachers? In the last few years I've been to 5 other parks besides Fenway and it just seemed much easier. I guess some of it depends on the fanatasism of the fans...some towns just couldn't care less..

Phillies tax may go up with the Thome deal...6 yrs 88 Mill..

I wonder if the Pats are in a tough position. They totally dominated the last game and I wonder if they will be able to use and abuse the Bills like they did the last time. Assuming the Bills show up to play, will the Pats have any tricks/strategy left? I think for the Bills they know what they need to work on. But what do the Pat's need to work on? They beat the Bills everywhere the last time.

For the Bill's Eric Moulds has been dropping a lot of perfectly thrown passes, which would have been huge gains, this year. It seems to me, that last week, he caught passes he had no business catching. So he might have turned the corner and have started to play like the Pro-Bowler he is.
Good play is contagious; confidence breeds confidence, so the Bills may be able to make this the game that defines their season.

Indeed, if they don't win, their season is over, as even if they finish 9-7, they have way too many division losses (2 against the g.d. jets! ahh. and 1 to the Pats) and it is entirely foreseeable that four other teams in the AFC will finish 9-7.

Sunday's forecast in Foxboro calls for sustained winds of 12 mph. So we can expect much windier gusts. Will this effect the outcome of the game? Probably not, both QB's are adept at throwing the ball in adverse conditions.

Noo, I'm glad I was in your thoughts.

SloMoJo: It seems like Drew broke your heart a few times. Do yourself a favor and let it go. Just let it go.

McAskalot -

Plenty of shoe options (too many) that offer a good balance. I'm not suggesting you wear a road shoe for technical XC. You also want to look at what the sole is made of and any tread design. Much of this is personal preference. Similiar to what you do with the cleats that often time screw in just below your toe (I have no need for them).

Im in my third season on a pair of Carnac's that I can't say enough about. If they weren't relegated to the basement and garage I would wear them around as slippers.

Another topic covered...amazing.

NOO.........thanks for all the formal technical answers but basically I was just trying to bust some balls with my questions.

I have a pair of Answer Talveras and like them a lot, but next time I won't go for a pair of shoes with laces. Got the laces caught in the chainring once and almost killed myself. I now make sure to double knot before heading out on a ride.

I think turnovers will be a factor in Sunday's Bills vs. Pats game. That and special teams play.

Anybody riding in these frigid temps?? It was 7 degrees in Mansfield this morning at 6:45 a.m. My morning walk with the dogs was shortened considerably and canine and human alike were glad that it was. I think the snow was acting like little razor blades on the pads of my pooches' feet!

I have taken the standard Bills fan attitude towards every Bills game, total pessisism.

It seems less the standard Bills vs. Pats type match up, but a battle between Belichick and Bledsoe. Greg Williams is no Marv Levy, so it is up to Bledsoe to win the game. Unfortunately, Belichick knows how to defend Bledsoe, back to his Cleveland days.

Since everyone is wimping out from biking just because it is a little chilly and some small accumlation of the white stuff, I guess I will have to back to NY to see the game.

Which leads me to yet another question...........where is a good post-ride establishment that serves good wings?

Buffalo wings make the red butt redder.

Good post-ride wings, eh? Well, the previously mentioned Eli Cannon's in Middletown makes good wings. Good for a post-Middlesex or Cockaponset snack (I just said sex and cock). My favorite though is J Timothy's in Plainville. Their dirt wings are unreal. Good for a post-West Hartford snack.

For wings in the Boston area there are 2 places that are close (but still not as good as western NY wings)

Buffs Pub in Newton & Tom's Busy Bee in Watertown.

Tom's is a cool neighborhood bar with lots of TV's but unfortunately probably the dirtiest bathrooms this side of a NJ turnpike rest stop :-X.

GW - don't worry - you were on the shortlist with BG. THe only fair solution would be two tix to bring the doublefecta from CT.

Belichicken didn't give him the respect he deserved. I think he's better than Brady.Would they have gone to the superbowl..probley not.He should have got his job back though. Brady didn't take them there alone. The whole team played awesome.. Don't forget the pitt game .If it wasn't for drew no superbowl ... ALSO THE RAIDERS GAME.Granted that was payback(the bad call) for the "78" playoff game.. People gave brady too much credit. He's good and gonna get better ,but I'll take Drew anyday..

I think the way Drew handled the whole situation was nothing but class! he did not say a word about it, the Media was trying to get drew or brady to say anything that they could twist around to make Drew sound bitter. he just wouldn't bite ! How many other situations around the league has this happened and one or the other quarter backs whines to the media. I was really surprised there weren't a bunch of teams trying to get him especially the way he came off the bench in the Pittsburg game and Marched the pats down the field

I hope they Both Put on a Show, you know like maybe a Final score of 48 - 42 Now that would be cool. I too Would rather be riding ! but with this dam white stuff on the ground ( and more coming tommorow ) is going to make it tough.

The Bills have to run the ball. Plain and simple. Bellicek defenses always confound Drew, and that last game was another example of it. I thought they would run more in the last game but didn't. Heavy winds are being forecasted for this game. Not good for QBs that like to throw the long passes.

Until the Bills get something remotely close to a defense, they have no shot in this game. Final score: Pats 36 Bills 17

I totally agree with you. If the Pats know they don't have to defend against the run, their secondary is going to destroy the Bledsoe. But, the Bills can put a running game together. The O-line has gotten better and Travis Henry is no slouch. Should be a good one.

I highly recommend tailgating...perhaps bringing a portable grill. I've heard from a season ticket holder that the new stadium is amazing. Not sure about the food inside....hence the tailgating recommendation. As for beer money...........again consume pre-game, but only in moderation. The worst thing at an NFL game is having to sit next to or in front of some sloshed A**hole who can't control himself (happened to me once at Rich Stadium in Buffalo where the guy behind me pissed his pants during the 3rd quarter........damned piss ran right down the cement from his row directly under my seat........Bastard!)

When attending an NFL game in the winter months it is best to dress in layers in order to stay warm. Remember you can always remove layers if you get hot......but if you don't bring it you can't add layers on!

The best advice I can give.... Get out of driving.
Everything about Gilette Stadium is great...except they still have the lines for the W.C.

Tailgate early and often. Don't bring anything in the Stadium or you'll end up being Ms. Gungy to some inmates.

To secure one's grips you can:

Use hairspray, Makes it easy to get on. But if grips get wet, grips will get loose.

Use adhesive. but may make a mess.

Use compressed air to create a near-frictionless environment.

Kahout's sound familiar wasn't/isn't it a strip club??

I find the best method for securing new grips is 3M weatherstrip adhesive. You can get it at most auto supply stores. Hairspray works fairly well too, slippery when wet, tacky when dry, but, doesn't last as long as the adhesive. With the adhesive you usually have to cut the grips off but the glue will come right off the bars for the next set of grips.

Gungywump,

Having been a season ticket holder for 9 years .I can give you a few tips. If you have a snow suit, ski pants or any good cold weather gear ,put it on(layers mister). It gets cold at the games this time of year and the wind really whips around inside the stadium. If its a 1:00 game you can get there as early as 10:00am. Bring plent - o - beer and whatever else does it for ya. You can't bring any booze inside .So bring $$ if you plan of drinking inside. Beers are expensive and they stop serving 5 minutes into the 3 rd quater. If your gonna tailgate bring a small grill. Steak tips and buffalo wings are good eats. We use to scramble up some eggs, sausage and onion s and peppers and cook it on the grill with a big ole cast iron pan. Makes for a nice breakfast(good base for boozing). Unless you leave the game early, don't be in a rush to get out of there. Have some chow for after the game also. The staties boot you out around 6:00. Enjoy !

It's actually the night game(ESPN) so I would assume it will be even colder than the day games.
If you let me know where you're at in the stadium maybe I could buy you a beer at halftime or something.
