I'm concerned with the content of the posts here. Some like to express themselves creatively and expound upon the forum topics. Others like to post one word. Others just post pictures. Others make absolutely NO sense at all. Some just ramble on and on.
It's not all about collecting stars and posts it's about the quality of your post or in the case of this poll the lack there of.

I'm sure that my numerous questions drive forum members crazy from time to time, but I'm still relatively new to the sport and trying to learn and gain knowledge from those with more experience/knowledge than I.

I think that most of you provide value in one way or another. I value the good advice that I've received from numerous forum members. And I also value the humor that often turns up in various threads here (and believe me I need some humor in my life right now!).

So in my case, it's pretty much all good - except an over abundance of third person speak! :o

I'm sure to be asking a whole boatload of additional questions so I hope you'll all bear with me. I really am learning a lot and do value your input!

Hey I have to use my political science degree in one way or another JT! Heaven knows I don't use it in my current job!

How many of you got into the sport through BMX? I got a birdseye view of some BMXers doing stunts and tricks off the steps of Jorgenson Theatre here on campus this afternoon. Some good stuff! But the father in me kept thinking that they shoulda been wearing helmets! :)

Your apartment sounds lovely and a great improvement of my current living conditions in the bowels of this Swedish cargo transport somewhere in the Adriatic. Us stowaways really enjoy the NEMBA posts, but I am the only one who can type, as Vilmos and Arneault are somewhat superstious folk and they believe that when you type into a keyboard, you expose yourself to a risk that your soul can be stolen by the devil.

But back to your apartment. Do you suppose I could live there with you, just for a little bit. Until I get going? I've never slept on a cot before, and I would really enjoy such a luxury. With new snow and no undercoat of ice, you don't need anything special-- just legs and gears!

Once it ices up, I run Nokia Extremes or homemade deathomatic ultrastuds!

On hardpack but wetter conditions, SSs are good cuz they don't clog with crap.

For ponds/lakes/rivers, I prefer the homemade ultrastuds: 1/2 inch sheet metal screws protruding from EVERY knob! Just don't run over any kids or it gets ugly.

First off I started this post so if it was intended as a reward for "post whoring" then there would be no need to poll as the number of posts is already "public knowledge". It was intended to help shed a little light on the lack of quality in some posts. Spamboy, can I call you Ed?, you may have less than 100 posts but they are all CRAP! I am proud of the number of posts I have and I would like to think that the Big Game and myself have in some small way been able to entertain all of you with our replies. Numbers aside I think that we usually reply with enough new thoughts and ideas to move the post along and foster a lively exchange of ideas among various personalities. I may have ~230 posts but I feel the greater percentage of them have been either entertaining or informative. Spamboy/Ed likes to throw mud at the caravan however and only proves to be counter-productive. It seems as if he doesn't really have anything to bring to the table so instead he acts like the kid in the back of the class who just likes to disrupt the flow of learning. If you are having difficulty playing nice with your classmates Spamboy or you don't understand something just ask we are all here to help you get through this obviously difficult time in your life. I know adjusting to an adult body and the raging hormones that come with it can be difficult but, when you act like an ass you will be treated like one. Try going out on a date once in a while it will help releive some of your pent up angst.

alright here is the deal I get a lot of **** when I ride and I dish it out too. mtb riding is one tough-ass sport, and it is often like hell on earth. you been there I've been there we all been there

during rides we give each other crap sometimes (a way to get the adrenaline pumping for instance), if we do something good, people can say "You suck !" or whatever because it is all good fun and razzing like tough-guys or what not. we are all in this stinky, crappy, smelly, and cold ride together. we ride, we do heroics here and there and say "Wow I cleared that bitch-ass-log "(well often I don't) but we give each other **** constantly in a big ride and it is all good fun, then we go eat and drink beers later on and continue the ******** session. hell when I go riding and dab all day and can't get my act together people don't say to me oh gee how can we help you edzo ? they say edzo, you suck and are riding like ass today, what gives ? I expect nothing less. of course the bottom line is everyone cares really. I can take it

so THAT is how I also present myself on this forum...a smack-talking ********ting wise-ass who does in fact post good info sometimes, but not all the time, but at NO time do I misrepresent who I am. just a goof who rides and enjoys some pain and suffering like all of us. the root of the whole matter is tough rides and tough talk. it's all good. I don't ramble on about it though, and I often reflect about my actions and even worry too much sometimes.

now if I /really/ went overboard on you, yeah, like...I know I didn't. Granted my statistical analysis is flawed because it only factors in number of posts per day since the member registered. I have taken a sample of some of the more prolific posters and it is clear that MMcAskalot is the worst, (sorry but the stats dont lie). In a mere 30 days MMcG has been responsible for almost 6 post per day. To put that into perspective if Big game posted at that rate he would be well over 600 posts. I think if BG had that many posts his "tips" at the end would probably be reduced to something like......

"to get your bike to go forward press on the pedals"

I am impressed and very amused. Nice work. Some quantitative data here that one could draw conclusions from. The least of which is tha you panned out fairing the best (or worst depending on your objective). Some vector heads (you know those ENGINEERS ;D) my argue the statistical reliability but that's not for me to say.

We should take into consideration post quality and factor in the "annoyance or boost you numbers factor". As an example, under your methodolgy, Evil Bota fairs well, But he is much more of an offensive post whore than Couch or Todd. I don't mean to single him out but I don't think he'll care as he is proud of his prowess on the forum. Evil has been much more prevalent as of late than when he first signed on.

Actually I spent about 5 minutes getting the data for my statistical analysis. If I was to look at content as the determining factor I would actually have to go back and read each persons posts and determine wahat percentage had a one or two word response or a picture posted (hogboy), I definately dont have time for that. The other flaw in my stats is when did the member become an active participant on the forum as opposed to when they registered.

My guess is for low quality content Evil B. (sorry man) would take the cake with LOL and LMAO as his most popular posts.

My next analysis will be what is the net negative effect on the US GDP based on lost productivity due to use of the NEMBA forum.

I rode the hardtail on the streets around the neighborhood late last night! Straight and steady was the key to success. I had a blast, no cars whatsoever and tons of beautiful snow to gaze at! The downside was that after that I couldn't sleep last night.

I'm amazed at how high Knuckles rates in the posts chart and he hasn't even posted for like a month. If there hadn't been a dropoff he'd be ahead of B.G. and possibly myself.

Alright I was bored. I'll answer my own question.
Knuckles joined the Busted Spoke Forum on Nov. 13.
He has posted 51 times there.
He accounts for 5.7% of their total posts.
He posts 2.22 times a day on BustedSpoke.
If he was still among us we could assume he would have posted those 51 times here.
That would equate to a NEMBA total of 208.
His average NEMBA posts per day would then jump to 2.39 putting him slightly behind the Big Game.
I also noticed that the BustedSpoke Forum isn't as interesting as NEMBA and doesn't foster as much exchange so Knuckles numbers may actually have been higher if he had stayed.
