GO OUT DRINKING TELL YOUR TROUBLES TO ANYONE INSANE ENOUGH TO LISTEN. BUT FIRST GET GOOD AND SLOPPY DRUNK. NOTHING IS MORE COMICAL THAN A BLEARY EYED GOOBER POURING OUT HIS HEART WHILE EVERYBODY ELSE IS LAUGHING AT YOU .SOON YOU WILL BE LAUGHING AT YOURSELF AND THAT WILL RELIEVE YOUR STRESS. SO YOU KILL TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE AND ITS MUCH CHEAPER THAN A SHRINK.

Perhaps you could direct Stress to the lavortory. Then he could just relieve himself?

Mr. Cheeze rides worse when stressed. Lifting weights to exhaustion is the cure for the omniscient one.
WORD.
I lift weights four times a week. It helps relieve work stress.

As a nurse I have seen first hand the power we have within ourselves to heal. Meditation and relaxation puts us in touch with our body, and mind which controls everything. Relaxation and meditation have been proven to reduce stress, and lower blood pressure to name just a few of the their benefits.
Here is a site that has some great DVD's to meditate and relax to.

Uh, how about riding a bike. I can usually judge how wound up I was by how long into the ride it takes me to stop mulling over the issue in my head and forget.

My recent problem is that the high end vodka has become more attractive after a stressful day than time on the bike. Gotta work on that...

For me, hitting the trails is the best way to relax. The concentration needed to keep from having to peel yourself off the gruond or a tree makes everything else disappear from your mind. I come back from a ride in a totally relaxed state of mind.
Road riding on the other hand, give you way too much time to think about the issues. Then you add the traffic...

For me, it's skeet shooting using my newly acquired Bible DVDs for targets. Thanks Nurse Kurt!

Almost any physical activity works for me; biking, rock climbing, skiing, hockey, etc. I went to yoga last night for the first time in a couple years and really enjoyed it, very relaxing yet physically taxing.

Whoa...you all missed the spam (#5 (http://www.nemba.org/forums/showpost.php?p=167234&postcount=5)) that brought this thread from the past back to life!
Timely thread...I'm heading out for a de-stress ride shortly!

Plywood, if you sure that you are not at fault, and have a police report, you should probably have a lawyer. PM me if you need more info.

Slider - Try some mid-range vodka which is much easier on the wallet and does not leave a bad hangover. I live near some mega-liquor stores and there's always some new Swedish vodka or California vodka made from grapes (?) that is on sale and reasonably priced. For me its as good as the Grey Gooses out there.
I also like to leave plates of rotting meat in my neighbor's yard and see what happens to it over a period of time. It just tends to calm and relax me. Check out this link if you dare: http://www.stinkymeat.net/

I mix up the vodkas. Lower end goes well with fruit juice, but only the good stuff works for me straight. Best so far is Hangar One, as smooth as it gets. I like the V-One stuff that the guy from MA has made in Poland, too.
Haven't tried 'em with rotting meat juice yet.

I commute on my mt bike through miles of singletrack, so the prospect alone of getting to ride home from work every night is a potent de-stressor. An anticipatory smile starts creeping across my face at about 4pm every day as I know I will soon be on the trails.
However, on those rare days when work pi$$es me off, I find I ride home much harder. I hurl myself down hills and over whatever obstacles lay in my path. Chunks of stress are left strewn about the trails in my wake until it has all been dislodged. Then the smile returns.

You all should try something with flavor, like bourbon. Two pours in a glass with a splash of water. 70 to 100 miles on the univega commuter works well too. Love to look at all the cagers stuck in their cars. Riding no hands playing air guitar keeps them from bothering me. Mt biking does it for me as well. You're only thinking about the next 30' of trail. Doing a bike rebuild , cables etc. is very meditative for me as well.

How the hell could you forget...unbelievable sex!!!!!!! Nothing like a good lashing in the sack. High energy, drunk, crazy, dirty, wake up your roomates, bed creaking, God disowns you, sweaty sex. If you are thinking about your stress at that point then you have issues. And you wake up with a smile and it feels like you were on a bike for miles upon miles.
Drinking makes it go away for a short time. Really hard mountian bike riding does an amazing job too...but nothing like the sex I described above. Try it sometime!
