OK, we've seen crashes, and some half-hearted/tongue-in-cheek go big pix and SS pix but lets just see the real deal. Show yhe goods.

Here is one from a Lynn ride. The drop looks tiny fromk the camera angle (and is depinding on your point of view), but is actually about 5.5' to a semi-flat. It's on the trials trail (I think that the name of it) at Lynn right after the rock-point drop (which I post another pix of as well).

As you can see, I'm making full use of my suspension ;)

Great Pics!

Keep em coming!

What model Intense is that you are riding Splat?

And can you climb with any of those freeride rigs?

Nice drop. I know that rock and it's nasty. No approach (have to get up onto the rock) and then the rock is just about a bike length. Good solid 5' drop too with a tree ahead if you eject. Nice M1. It's exactly like Sully's (Sean Sullivan's). I just got one last week (used) and the parts I needed for it arrived today. Can't wait to try it out on a nice long XC epic w/ PK and the boys ;)

Man Couch!

How many bikes do you currently own?

Must be sweet to have rigs for so many different riding styles!

I actually sold off most of the fleet this summer and only had a SS, the Bullit and a road bike (and half an mtb tandem). It grew this fall though to include a FR-HT and a DH bike. Oh yea, and the UrbanRoad SS project bike codename, CrackWhore.

Couch,
Much props for the "Right Tool for the Right Job" philosophy. I employ it myself. Currently I have a SS, Urban SS, Ti Hardtail, and a C-Dale Roadbike. I am getting the new Kona A FS SS next summer but, I really need a FS bike. I am trying to pull together a list of what I am interested in to post to Y'all next week. Suggestions welcome.

Couch, Do you work in a shop? Saturdays? All week?

Keep your eyes peeled for a review of the Kona FS SS that will be forthcoming in a future DirtRag by our own PK. He doesn't have it yet but it's on the way.

Nope, I don't work in a shop but my basement has more inventory then most shops do so ...

And lastly, I know it's not a drop, but it was a cool picture anyway. Me at the 1st anual Rye Big Wheel Street Comp this past August.

Sinister,
Is that bike got 24" wheels. What is it? What the geometry? It looks real BMX like.

Yes, the bike has 24inch wheels front and rear. But you can run it 26/24 or 26/26.

It is a 2002 Sinister Ridge, for more info check out www.sinisterbikes.com

We don't make the 02 bikes any more, but we redesigned the Ridge for 03 and the geometry (and list of specs) is listed on the site under products.

It definietly has a BMX feel to it, we designed it that way, so it would be easy to flick around in woods, dirt jumping or at the skatepark.

What kind of hardtail are your riding NEMBA Dude?

NEMBA_bkr-dude
December 24th, 2002, 11:57 AM
I am riding my suped up specialized stumpjumper. I know it isn't much of a FR frame but it is strong as hell and light too. The biggest change I made was switch out the crapy SID SL with a 2003 Fox Vanilla 125 RLC. I also put on a Nokian Gazzalloddi Core up front and a Maxxis Mobster in the back and I swapped out the low end shimano pedals with M545's. I am currently saving up to replace the stem and bars.

Didn't that longer travel fork change your geometry?

How does the bike handle with that longer travel fork?

NEMBA_bkr-dude
December 24th, 2002, 12:19 PM
It handles better than with the SID. Also, SID's are pretty long (not travel, just length) forks too so the geo isn't altered that much. Anyway, the raised front end is nice on down hills and other more aggressive aspects of biking. Also, my fork has saved me from bad crashes many times. Including accidentally nose manualing a tabletop- if I still had a SID I would probably have stitches right now, instead I landed and rode away.

Thats in my friends yard. he has 13 acres and let me build a North Shore type trail. I built the tabletop its 3 feet high 4 foot wide and 12 feet between the ramps. Only one problem . theres a nice big tree right i the landing path gotta stop REAL fast

Damn you're observant. That *is* my bike. Or should I say ex-bike. That's before I bought it though. Almost looks like Dane on it, not the guy I bought it off.
