Thinking of starting to explore the world of Urban Assault. Just wondering what I can do to my old Diamond Back Response to urbanize it. Also wondering what types of rigs make good Urban Assault bikes.

Get a good bashguard. Get some platforms.
Kona makes several "out of bounds" hardtails that are excellent urban machines. Stuff, Roast and Chute, no I'm not saying you should do drugs those are the Kona model names.

For some people, Urban Assault is Urban Trials.
For me Urban Assault is.
Fixed Gear, Big Ring, brakes are for wimps, beer in the camelback, duct tape the frame, 'round town type of rig.
Nose rings are optional...Attitude is required.
Remember, cabs and busses don't stop. :)

And for the most part, they don't bend either. I did a couple urban rides-of-death w/ Tom and PK and a mess of regulars. We started at my place in Bedford, rode to Summavul, hit RB's for beer and went to town (literally). It was ugly and wrong. After lots more beer, a rim trashing blowout and a crash on the bikepath on the way home, I dismantled the bike (a steel mtb SS w/ road gears and slix), never to be see again (basically before it killed me).

I built it back up last Sunday ...

It is a thing of beauty too!
Ready to roll next week?
I need to put a bigger ring on the front and a singulator. (I don't think I will get lucky on the chain length for a bigger gear). Do I remember you saying you have a spare singulator kicking around or am I making that up?

I love it when the suburban boys come to town to play.
I have been scoping out all the good alley ways.
You may want a slightly bigger tire then last time, we will not be walking any of the stairs this time.
As for cabs and busses, I have been training all year by commuting to work durring rush hour.

My urban rig is:
Kona Humu Humu Nuku Nuku A'Pua'A
Profile BMX Hubs w/Ryno Lites 36°
Profile Stem
Big Cheese 5" BMX Cruser Bars
Avid Brakes
Kenda Cross Max Tires

I don't think the term ASSAULT applies though.

03 raleigh m50 all the way. At least that's how I learned. Amazing how strong it is. Only 75mm of travel too- perfect for preloading a hop.

I saw one of these on Ebay last night! Crazy looking bike, with the double top tubes and the rounded out dropouts etc!

What bike has the longest name of any mountain bike?
What bike has the second longest?

Both of these according to Mountain Bike Magazine btw.
