The Ct NNEMBA Fall Fiesta was a blast. Great rides for all levels. Great food. And, great activities and competitions for everyone to enjoy with all the participating shops stepped up with prizes. I think the only dissapointment was that Big Game managed to win the hill climb he so enthusiastically promoted. Although he employed a little bit of "house rules" strategy he managed to get to the top of the challenging climb. Next year someone has to shut him up! Thanks to Turch, Alex, and The Dewser for putting everything together and to Pedal Power, North Haven Bike and Wallingford Bike for their support. The event continues to grow and the addition of all the mini-comps was a great choice for both riders and spectators.
Rock On Ct NEMBA!!

Oh yes, it's all true. Not one single woman beat me.
But I must be perfectly honest. I must talk about the climbing ability demonstrated by some women on the the epic (another success led by Paul Wetmore --- thanks Paul). There were 18 people on the epic. 15 guys, and 3 women. Well, during this one climb, the only people to clean it were both women, Trish and Pam.
Now, I have a question for you all. Do you know how difficult it is to ride when you are paralyzed by shock? I was so surpised that these two ladies made it up (and the rest of us, gulp, men did not !!!), it was difficult for me to continue the ride. I mean, if a woman could beat a man, what's next? Will the sun rise tomorrow? Will the sky turn green? And what of donuts?
But luckily, because of my instestinal fortitude, I was able to continue. And in fact, I was able to show those two ladies how to climb Big Bertha, which they certainly appreciated. I told them not to worship me, as that would only inflate my already enlarged ego. Instead, we decided just to enjoy to wonderful post-ride BBBQ organized by the Dewser. And then we had some of the best chocolate chip cookies made by Paul's wife. Mmmm.
But as far as the Official Hill Climb Challenge goes, my prediction was correct. Not one woman beat me. Here are top three finishers in the open category:
1. Tim Finn
2. Anthony Parent (this guy is quite the strapping young lad--- charming, sweet and sensitive. He tells me he's single (which I couldn't believe). I tell you, he's going to make one lucky lady very very happy --- he's a catch)
3. Jeff Martin
First place in the single speed cat goes to Jonny Weekes.
Thanks to all that participated.
Thanks to Dewser, Turch, Paul, Alex, the Sausage man, Pedal Power, North Haven Bike, Wallingford Bike for making it a big success.
