So, despite the urging, nay proding of the masses to gather interest in a Halloween ride last night, we got no additional takers. That said, there were two of us that were up for the challenge.
We started off in good fashion, doing a little dropoff work on some local loading docks and stairs and then zipping a little loop of offroad off before swinging back by the house for Phase II.
Phase II included ditching the bladders from the CamelBacks and proceeding the the liquor store to purchase a 12 of St. Pauli Girl cans (on sale for $9.99, sweet!). Not surprisingly, the CamelBack Blowfish handled stowing the 6 pack each with with ease. Initial estimates seem to be that 9 would be about the load limit of the BlowFish, assuming that you could dispose of the empties along the way vs. carrying them. BTW, if you crush the cans, the outer mesh is an excellent design for holding the empties. Residual beer flows out through, and the expansion of the mesh accomodaties up to 6 empty cans.
The 1st beer was cracked at Drinking Duddy rock, in honor of the man; the legend. A little one handed riding/drinking follwed by a warmup office park drop and we were off to ride. We found our way to Lexington via the bike path (with the aid of another beer or so) and on to some side trails which a pesky beaver had submerged. We hit some neat stuff behind a church and then chugged another beer and rode off to some more trail in town. A few loops of racing around the woods and we made our way out of that section.
As we were coming out of the piece of conservation land we noted the new boardwalks that had been put in. Excellent quality and workmanship. Good stuff. Out of respect to the hard work that surely went on there we had some more beer.
Things start to get a little blurry after that. Highlights include beer, lots of stopping to pee, launching a bunch more loading docks, getting a flat, beer, poaching the Fedex warehouse, near crashes in the cemetary (again), launching some retaining walls, frozen feet and home.
At home, arms were twisted and out came more beer along with ample supplies of steak tips, squash and buns thanks to my wife who stayed home to serve candy and prepare excellent meals for drunks.
Needless to say, after a couple more beers to top off the night, I'm feeling my best this AM.
Happy Halloween and maybe next year we will get some more interest!
