Evil Booty,
I would suggest a pair of old wool socks. You can cut a hole for your cleat, if you're clipless, and stretch them over your riding shoes.
Cheers

I use plastic newspaper bags over my socks, great for the mud puddles in Big River too.

Go to a hunting store maybe Kmart, and buy some GoreTex socks for inside your shoes ($20-$30). They are waterproof, windproof and warm!

A few ideas:
loose or loosened shoes (don't constrict them doggies).
wool socks (thicker socks = need for loose shoes)
for mesh shoes: need a wind block (options: goretex
socks, over booties, plastic bags inside the shoes, or the
number uno age old wind block a few layers of newspaper
positioned over the foot but inside the shoes)
chemical heaters (you can at least stuff a couple in your
pack just in case of a frostbyte emergency
electric socks (don't know if I'd go this route but I've seen
them on the trails before)
cayenne pepper (amazingly sprinkled inside your shoes it
works at least until your feet are soaked in perspiration.)

I've found that my feet get cold more as a result of falling asleep then as a result of the ambient temp. You got to get blood to your feet.
So I do what a friend of mine up north taught me. Stop every now and then and do a little tap dance. Clap your hands together and shout out. Not only will the extra blood that flows through your extremities reduce coldness in your fingers and toes, you'll also have rhythym. And who could ask for anything more?

Fleece socks and toe warmers (found in most sporting goods stores, usually near hunting dept.)
And duct tape over the mesh on my shoes to keep the wind out. This has worked in single digit temps.

When the temp is in the teens or twenties, I jump off the bike every 15 minutes or so and run alongside the bike for about 50 yards. Otherwise, just Goretex socks and winter bike shoes.

Go to Wal-Fart and get a pair of cheap neoprene booties. Get them BIG. You want them to fit over your regular bike shoes. Cut out the cleat area, or platform area. This is the best way to have warm feet in the winter!

Here is the solution for cold feet. get an oil pan and fill it with gas. Soak your feet in it for about 15 minutes. Light your feet on fire and let them burn for about 15 seconds then put out the flames. Next, spray them down with gumout engine cleaner. Put some freezer bags over the feet and then socks and your good to go. I'm serious, this works. Try it.

I bought a pair of Artic Northwaves 2 years ago and they rule! Since I only wear them four months a year, I'll have them for at least three more years. A good investment if you ride all winter. They are very sleek, not bulky at all, and combined with Goretex socks feet stay dry and toasty on the coldest days. Wool socks over your shoes sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, not to mention a little dorky looking, and lighting your feet on fire?!? If you plan to do some serious winter riding get a nice set up, because nothing ruins a ride like Cold Feet!

know what works well with the feet also? Take 2 shots of tequila, two lines of coke, two hits off a joint, and 2 20mg oxycontins and your feet wont bother you; you wont even know you have feet. Knuckle
