Go for the vitamin C and gore tex. You will feel much better. Otherwise you might do something rash like clean the house.

I guess if riding in the rain is truly out of the question, you could tear the bike apart and clean it up nicey nice for when the dreaded rain does go away...

I do have rain gear "just in case." ;) Don't get some of the members here started on cleaning bikes!!! Seems to be a frowned upon activity by some people here. ???

As does riding in the rain!

just kidding about that last comment, It would be a shame not to ride on the count af a little rain. How bout Case Mt. in CT on Sat or Sun.
And who needs rain gear anyway?? No matter what I've ever worn riding in the rain I've never come back dry. So I suggest diving right into the first mud puddle you see and forget about trying to keep your skirt dry even for a second.

I can't ride because I have two 9 mm holes in my back. Too much time in the north end of hartford...Chalk that up as lame ass excuse #374.

Have fun riding in the rain, guys. :) I prefer dry conditions, but that's just me.

BTW, they are not talking about a "little" rain this weekend. We're supposed to get dumped on.

It is technically raining now, but it is only drizzle. Riding in light rain isn't too bad. I don't bother with the rain gear as mtn biking gets me wet with sweat, mud, bog water and sometimes blood.

There are places to ride where the trails don't get muddy because of good drainage because of very sandy soils like Arcadia, Bluff Pt and Wrentham if erosion is a concern.

If you want warm and dry though, stay home.

Just gotta keep them little piggies as dry as possible....if need be result to the old plastic bag liner trick your mom used to pull with your boots when you went sledding....

I agree with T-man that some riding spots have better drainage than others and using plan old common sense can keep trails healthy....

However, the roots and rocks+water=slippery singletrack. For those not seasoned maybe wear your mouthguards....

Any of you wet-weather riders ride this weekend? I never got out.

Cercopithecidae,

I'm with you Boon man, first weekend in a long time with no riding. It wasn't so much due to the weather but rather some banged up ribs I sustained from a bad MTB spill earlier in the week....figured I was due since no MAJOR incidents yet this year.

Anyway, it looks like I won't be on the bike for at least another week or two..which brings me to my point..I think I was due for sometime off the trails...It sure was nice to sleep in, catch some movies and sports, have some beverages and just kick around the house with the Mrs....(I actually did wrap up some house projects but I was hurting)...and that was over a three day weekend...

BTW - I would have expected more rave reviews of Krispy Kreme (on the taste of donuts...not what you call people who go there)...Isn't there something called freedom of speech...

My son and I did Nepaug on Sunday in the drizzle. The trails there drain really well and it's one of the few places I will ride in the wet. No puddles or mud. However, the wet rocks and roots were a real challenge. (Of course, the next day I crash in the dry at Penwood).

Not looking much better this week either. >:( It's raining now and supposed to rain again friday. Better try the traditionally sandy places.

I rode Friday (drizzle) Saturday (drizzle) and Sunday (drizzle) ... then my husband ESCAPED on Monday before I could get my ride in. I only wiped out twice due to slippery roots.
