Hey buds, I got a question. I have a gemeni 1000 and I'm ordering a boxxer race for it. I'm wondering what the difference is between the low top crown and high top crown. I have a diabolus stem I want to use. Any help is appreciated. I was originally gonna go with the sherman 1.5 forks, but I have to buy a 1.5 headset, stem, and the fork. I said screw it, and I'm going dual crown; Boxxer. Thanks, Kevin

The diff in the crowns is basically to accomodate how long a head-tube your frame has. With a double crown the max amount of distance between the lower crown and the upper crown is dictated by the length of the steerer tube (265mm minus the stack of the headset/stem and thickness of upper crown).

A longer head tube frame may not have enough room to fit in that space, so they make crowns with stantion slamps that drop down below the clamp level of the steerer tube clamp (aka, drop crowns). RockShox used to have 3 sizes to fit different frame sizes. If you run a big bike (20" plus, you will definately need the large/tall drop crown.

Thanks for the help man. I'm ordering a short cup for my gemeni, as it has a tall cup which is about 1inch in height, and the short cup is about 1/8 of an inch. That will fix me up. I've also ordered a pair of sherman sliders. Gonna try them out (BLACK, to match the bike) and keep the boxxers for a backup. Peace, Kevin
