View Full Version : Titec Hellbent XC...from flat bar to riser...

September 16th, 2002, 12:32 PM
I am thinking of swapping out my Titec TI flatbar for a Titec Hellbent XC with 1 degree rise 9 degree backsweep and 5 degree upsweep. This is on a hardtail.

??? - I would appreciate any feedback on the switch from flat to riser and/or on the Titec Hellbent XC bar itself. (I realize this will vary based on riding style and personal preference)

Reason for the switch is I haven't raced in a long while and do more technical singletrack riding (Ft. Rock style). I have been getting some lower back pain (even on some shorter rides).

Note: I'm not too concerned about weight I am carrying a few extra lbs. myself these days.

Thanks

I went from risers to flat. The only thing I noticed was I could cut the flats a lot shorter which made cutting through trees a whole lot easier. I personally like the flat better just for that reason.

Good Luck!

Baggies or spandex? slicks or knobs? It's one of those personal choice things. My first switch to a riser was the Titec, I have since migrated to a higher degree in rise. It will defiantly help with back pain. I feel that I have more control over my bike with a riser bar. It hard to explain, but it seems that I can handle higher speeds, get further behind the bike, as well as quickly shifting body weight over the front of the bike. Not so good in tight spaces, but it's fun to thread the needle!

I use the Hellbent Flattracker on a couple of bike. It pretty much approximates the feel of a Monkey Lite, but in a flat bar. I think you'll like it. If you can handle blue or red, check out www.titec.com -- $20!
