I know some of you sharpies have GPS and map out places where there are no public maps available.

I also understand you can overlay the GPS info onto Map programs like Street Atlas and such.

Has anyone done such a thing and made some homebrew maps to show us?

I work and ride with with a computer geek, who brings his GPS. Gonna get him to experiment with mapping it.
Thx

This may sound trite, but have you tried bikerag.com?

I have TopoUSA from DeLorme (I won it in a raffle at a Stag Party --- we sure know how to get wild, huh?). Apparently, I can use this to do ye olde GPS overlay on a topo. I haven't had much of a need to use it...bikerag.com has everything I need (now that's a quote --- talk about a shameless plug, I feel so dirty).

Actually, bikerag rules all donut eaters. They also have cool pics of guys who sometimes shave their legs and fall off their bikes. Yummy!

Good stuff on Bikerag, especially the ride recaps. They seem to ride mostly gonzo stuff though. I am interested in any maps for Mass. west of the Conn river. Nothing against the riding in Conn., but it's a 2 hr drive. I have been to Shinpsit (sp?) however. ;D

Shinipsit, or Soapstone is one of the crown jewels of southern NE mountain biking. Worth the drive especially if you have time to poke around. The bikerag gps of the park is pretty good but there is tons more there...

The guys a bikerag take pics of the gonzo stuff the maps provide tons of xc for all levels. Check out the rating system for good descriptions.

most of my stuff is from east of the river, or mass...send me a private note if you want .tpo files.

.tpo files are from a garmin vista downloaded to the TOPO software by National geographic.

What type of gps do you have?

I do not use GPS but I do get maps from topozone.com. I did this for riding in the Mount Agamenticus (sp?) area in Maine and it worked out fine.

You are on your own as to trail conditions with these.

Does anyone have the GPS coordinates for Big Lame's house?? Or is that classified. Wait, I bet someone at BROKERIG.com should know!
