View Full Version : New Trail in the Lynn Woods?
August 26th, 2002, 07:22 PM
After the closing of the Bow Ridge trail, most riders i know were bummed. Bow Ridge was a great place to ride, prehaps the best place in the Lynn Woods. However I was excited when I heard that new trails were going to be built. I first heard new trails were going to be built in the local knowledge section of Bike magazine. Soon after I saw a sign at one of the messagebords at the enterance to the park. All of this I read at the begginning of the summer. Well its almost september and I have heard or read NOTHING since then. I even tried to call the phone number they left for those who were interested in volunteering!
If anyone has any information about where the new trails are being built or when they are going to start please leave a short post! ???

Thanks Dirt Diva, I'm not sure if the Merlin crew is building the new trails or if the rangers are themselves. I'm pretty sure its the rangers, but I am probably wrong. Thanks again!

Some work was done during the NEMBA-sponsored trail building school back in May, though I'm not sure what the state of things is right now. Like Dirt Diva said, Tom or Mike should be able to give you the latest on what has been done and when more work will be taking place (and more volunteers are always welcome). The design and construction of a new technical trail to fill the void that was left by the loss of Bow Ridge has been a collective effort involving several groups including NEMBA, a group of Lynn regulars, and of course the Lynn Ranger.
The guys over at Sinister Bikes posted some pictures that pk shot of the new trail that they worked on during the Trail Building school: http://www.sinisterbikes.com/advocacy.htm

I took some pics of the riding @ the 9/14 trailbuilding day. Check them out @ http://www.freerideclub.com/Lynn14Sept.htm. It continued up from where the May trailbuilding finished, and there's more to go. Thanks to Nemba, Rangers, Volunteers, etc-there'll soon be as technical a trail as most would ever want...right in our back yard. I took some helmetcam footage there last weekend, but it's pretty rough at this point...
