The NORBA National race at Mount Snow Vermont was the site for many great accomplishments this year, unfortunately it was also where my Specialized S-Works Team Downhill bike was stolen. I reported the theft to the Wilmington Police Department when the bike was taken from the parking lot at the Roadhouse Resturant on 8/15/02. I rented a bike and raced anyway finishing tenth, I like to think that would have been a podium finish on my bike. The frame is white with black and red specialized decals, it has yellow mavic dee-max wheels, king headset, azonic bars, raceface northshore cranks, intense tires, manitou carbon x-vert forks, sram rocket shifter, mrp chainguide, atomlab 35mm stem, odi grips, titec sadle, and ringle platform pedals, it's a beauty. If I lived on the East coast I would spend some serious time searching resorts and shops for it, but since I traveled from California for the race all I have been able to do is make phone calls and list the bike on some web sites. Next year I will rid Vermont of a criminal or two by setting up a sting with an equally beautiful bike and catching the purpotrator in the act, I may do this at several events across the country. But how can I get the person who took this bike ? I could post adds asking for a team dh frame but chances are the idiot is illiterate and not on the internet, any ideas ? With only a couple hundred of these things in existance I wont be surprised if I see it again some day at a race somewhere and the rider will not be happy when I do, but by that point it will just be posession of stolen property, what to do, what to do ? If you have any good ideas or leads please post them here or cotact the Wilmington police at (802) 464-8593. Thanks, Jon Martin.

That sucks big time. There's a downhill this weekend at Sunday River. I'll be on the lookout if the idiot is stupid enough to bring it that way.

I'd also keep a look out on e-bay and the classifieds on mtbr.com.

My sympathy for your loss, that feeling when you relize that you have been victimized is awfull.

I have no suggestions or leads on your bike, but as you did ask for ideas, one does come to mind. It may not fit right now with the way your clearly feeling, but maybe in the end you will come to see the wisdom of it.

Your bike was stolen, that can not be changed. I think the chances of finding it intact, and being ridden by another are slim at best. Also, your sting in the parking lot idea relies alot on random chance, and requires risking not only another bike but also your personal saftey. Vengence will not bring you solice.

Instead may i suggest you purge yourself of your hatred for these soulless theives. Not right away, but soon. Before you waste too much of your spirit on them. They have victimized you enough already. Don't waste good riding time searching for what you ultimatly will not want back even if it is found. Wait not in dark parking lots, while you friends are in partying, for evil to come your way. Curse them, rant and rave, and then move on.

Thats it, silly tho it may sound today. Good luck and peace of mind i wish for you.
