The plastic piece between the cassette and spokes on the back tire of my bike keeps breaking. There are three little prongs that hold it onto the wheel and one of the prongs breaks after about two or three rides. This, in turn, causes all kinds of problems with shifting, chain suck and so on.

Do other people have this problem?

Does anyone have any suggestions for preventing or eliminating this problem?

TIA,
Ian

Take it off and chuck it! A properly adjusted rear derailler shoud not shift into the spokes.

Now that's a great answer.

Thanks!

Shifters are not always adjusted properly, especially after a fall or picking up a stick on the trail. The buck that the spoke protector costs you can save you damage to spokes and frustration from trying to get chain out from under cassette.

Of course, the style weenies aren't fond of them...
